Are they comparing a university to the history of Islam? That's like power scaling in an anime. Besides the futility of trying to compare pre-Namek Goku to Luffy, what the fuck is scientific progress? You don't have the royal scientific authority grand you 14 milliscientificprofresses (milliscipros) every time you get published.
There might very well be good research that comes out of NYU, but it's asinine to compare it to how useful algebra is. Also probably racist bullshit. And by probably it is.
The unit of measurement for scientific progress is a Sagan.
