Homie, you are on a PIRACY community.

[–] HellAwaits@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think they were more concerned about how long it's going to stay up

[–] Keeboy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's in that weird gray area as it is playing from illegal sites it just removes the usual ads and stuff

[–] Klystron@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Lol idk how removing ads and just rehosting the video is a gray area but whatever works for me... I figured when I first clicked on it, it was like a watch party kind of thing. Like I post a video file then whoever I want can watch it with me... Not just pulling video files from other sites lol. Still, seems cool and is super slick

[–] Octopus1348@thelemmy.club 23 points 1 year ago

They do not rehost. It's still coming directly from the illegaé sites.

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Newpipe is in that gray area too and they're still going strong despite the best legal efforts from youtube.

[–] skankhunt42@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're not kidding. I doubt this is going to stay up.

[–] scytale@lemm.ee 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

All the sites it’s pulling media from aren’t getting taken down, so I doubt it will be either.

[–] Nythos@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

And if it does no doubt another 10 websites will take its place.

Errrmmm....dude! everything is ilegal if you stop seeding 😜 I mean, its piracy channel, get vpn and enjoy the ride

[–] donut4ever@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do I need a VPN for this? Or can I just play my damn movie without being worried?

[–] rambos@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

First time I see this, but feels like something I would hide behind VPN. Most people use VPN to hide their home IP from ISP or goverment. 5€ a month should be enough for decent VPN. Lot of people dont care at all and never have a problem. I was torrenting for many years with no vpn, only got vpn recently just because I feel better 😜

Thank you. I'm asking because I don't want to get into any legal trouble, even though I don't see why I would. I'm only streaming it through a public site, not downloading any movies. I just don't want to deal with shit.

I think you’ll be fine even without a vpn, since you’re not seeding nor hosting the content, just streaming it.

[–] donut4ever@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Thank you. I've always been under this impression, but just wanted to make sure
