There isn't a price at which ad-supported programming becomes attractive.

Even free isn't good enough for ads. Ads are horrendous. They don't even try to make them good anymore. It's just "but our shit, dummies!". Remember the milk commercials? That was probably the height of advertising. It's all been shit since then.
