Fediverse vs Disinformation
Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.
Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.
What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.
By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

The Russian country generates about 5.5 billion a day.
The Russian government generated $352 billion in 2024, and spent $357 billion, running a surprisingly small deficit. They means they spent rather neatly about a billion dollars a day, of which almost half that was devoted to the Ukraine war.
That's what I mean when I say that the scale of whatever they are doing with Iran and Syria, to the extent they're even doing anything with Syria anymore, is simply not relevant in comparison to what they're doing in Ukraine.
For example:

They could, not just stop providing aid to Iran, but pull back every dollar they've sent so far, and it would finance seven days of the Ukraine war.
