Final Fantasy XI
Final Fantasy XI is the eleventh numbered installment in the… Okay, you know what it is, I’m just going to tell you about one of the storylines!
During the Wings of the Goddess expansion, adventurers will be sent back in time to experience the events of the Crystal War, a cataclysmic event that is the foundation for conflicts of the modern-day timeline. Should an adventurer choose to serve the Kingdom of San d’Oria, they will be immersed in the story of the Young Griffons—a group of children who would see themselves knights, many of whom grow into prominent characters later in life.
Among the Young Griffons, the player will find Bistillot, a shy boy who doesn’t like to be seen. With his penchant for engineering, shy demeanor, and lack of combat potential, Bistillot prefers to spend his time inside of an orcish war machine that he was able to repair to working condition.
He is often seen before he is heard, with his signature phrase, “HAAAALLOOOOOOOOO” being used to hail the adventurer. Through the course of the story, Bistillot finds his way, even contributing to the war effort with his engineering skills.
However, when another member of the Young Griffons is kidnapped and taken to the present day, the adventurer must return to the present day and reunite with the Young Griffons’ present selves! The adventurer’s first contact in the present day is Bistillot. When the adventurer hears the signature “HAAAALLOOOOOOO,” Bistillot approaches the player, but what the player sees is… a woman?? She introduces herself as Bostilette, a “friend of Bistillot.”
After the rescue mission, Bostilette comes clean. She is, of course, the very same Bistillot who was a little boy twenty years earlier. She explains that she was very sick as a baby, so her parents gave her a boy’s name so that she would be stronger and survive the illness. Once she overcame the illness, she was comfortable to reclaim her name and gender. Well, that closes the book on that story, except… I’ve decided that’s bullshit!
I have unilaterally decided that Bostilette is trans, the sickness she had was dysphoria, she stayed in the orcish war machine because she was an egg, and I hope you all agree!

Finally get a chance to relax today, playing my vidya while I listen to my slop
yo they named a camo after orange book in da cawadoody!!
Staring at Cawadoody credits before they became a microtransaction nightmare...
is that og black ops one? not played that game in YEARS
Oh also funny thing about it I learned/remembered playing it last night: the second chance perk where you pull out your pistol when wounded and can get revived still works even if your class doesn't have a pistol equipped, you just get a default M1911 out of nowhere lmao
I immediately thought of the Christopher Walken bit in Pulp Fiction about the watch
(the Python speed reloader and CZ75 extended mags are the best secondaries to use for second chance, you can't use the dual wield Pythons or full auto mod CZ75, although the single ASP is good for a sniper class using scout pro and second chance because that gives you the fastest swap/draw time changing to your pistol, which is always faster than reloading)
Yep, I never got a new console after the Wii and 360 lol
The botmatch feature in Black Ops and especially Black Ops 2 is really nice to just absentmindedly play while listening to a podcast or audiobook at the end of the day imo
Halo Reach firefight mode is a big favorite for that too
my neighour and I used to play I think it's called Firing Range? us 2 vs bots. we'd camp in the big ass tower in the middle of the map and rack up hundreds of kills
That's a good map, I always liked that one, Summit (the snowy base with the swingy gondola on the cliff) and Stockpile (the DLC snowy Soviet village with a hidden missile base and the open/closeable garage doors) way more than Nuketown but for some reason that one became like, the Blood Gulch of CoD
Summit is cracked, I loved that Gondola. sit in there with the Famas as a 12 year old and pick people off
I like nuketown, but only in domination. one side vs the other with this unending battle for the middleground makes that map pretty fun
Practically nobody seemed to run the mortar team kill streak but that absolutely destroyed on Nuketown when you aimed them at the exits of the other team's house when they were held at one flag in domination
I liked using weird stuff like that and the Valkyrie rockets with underused guns and finding cheeky spots for sentry guns
Black Ops 1 was pretty much FAMAS: The Game but it had a lot of fun less viable weapons, I loved the Stoner63 with a red dot and extended mags, the silenced SPAS-12 and dual Pythons
The crossbow and ballistic knife were basically both just gimmicks but they were really satisfying
