Even worse, right now if a lemmy.world user goes and posts a homophobic rant on a queer instance, like Blahaj, and people proceeded to report it, those reports would only go to Blahaj when they should probably go to both Blahaj and lemmy.world,

The report supposedly goes to all relevant admins. That's what ours said, at least.

The developers of Lemmy are (mostly) also voluntary. I think it's dishonest to frame it as a temporary problem the lemmy developers need to solve. They should just be up front about it being a long-term defederation.

Beehaw admins have said they want to refederate when Lemmy has better mod tools

This is going to basically be forever. The lemmy.ml developers won't focus on that for quite a while. If beehaw had said they'd be actively working on mod tools to add to lemmy that would be one thing. This is just a cop out.

There are/were a bunch of instances that were basically empty except for spammers. The block list in Lemmygrad and lemmy.ml is pretty long too, but most of those instances are empty.

They also proactively blocked Hexbear. Hexbear is a lemmy fork that's coming back, but isn't federated yet!

I think it's a good argument to always have a couple of accounts on different instances, depending on what/who you want to interact with!

I really like the first Motorcycle Diaries. I'd love to get a hold of his work on Economics, but I haven't found a good digital copy yet.

You're not following your instance's rule to be polite, are you?

Thanks for sharing!
