I switch from a Pixel 3 to a S23 and it's really nice. The new Snapdragon 8 gen 2 is solid, with great battery life and doesn't heat up even when doing intensive task. I also change almost all the stock app to Google's so it's basically just like using a Pixel now, abet with some restriction (no google recorder app because that's pixel exclusive lol).

I was worried about "Samsung bloat" too but I have to say the new OneUI is rather nice.

Generally I'd pay a little more for almost everything, unless I'm absolutely sure the cheap thing I'm about to buy has been a staple in the community and got recommended a tons. I found midrange priced stuff to be the sweet spot that give you a lot more quality and longevity compared to the cheap stuff, while not landing on the other end of diminishing return and overpay for something that's overkill for my needs.

The thing is, the website you listed have direct alternatives. Right now with the current format Reddit is the only big player so moving away from it will be very hard. Tumblr user migrated to Twitter, and we haven't seen the same thing happened to Lemmy at that scale yet.

A lot of random trivial about stuff I don't really see. I'd say the most important thing for me is to see how people around the world see things in their perspective. Also open my eye to a lot of niche hobby and resources.

Windows 10. My previous effort to try Linux didn't pan out and now I just want the stability and predictability of Windows. I might try it again down the road.

Used to have a Macbook but nowaday I don't like mac for anything I do.

Not sure if it's niche anymore but mechanical keyboard is a fun rabbit hole to dive into. There's so much variety and diversity in term of customization. You can really build a keyboard that fit your preference in term of looks, feels and sounds. The hobby has been booming after covid so now you can get some really nice starter stuff at affordable price.

With the current situation, no. If by some miracle they can restore communication to the surface then they might be able to call for help to pinpoint their location, otherwise it's likely death for them.
