I thought beehaw.org defederating from us would not affect post/comments on shared source instances, e. g. lemmy.wtf, which is neither defederated from beehaw.org nor us:

https://lemmy.world/post/149743

Why do I see posts/comments from beehaw users on communities outside lemmy.world and beehaw.org?

That's because the "true" version of those posts is outside beehaw. So we get updates from those posts. And lemmy.world didn't defederate beehaw, so posts/comments from beehaw users can still come to versions hosted on lemmy.world.

https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src/branch/main/fep/1b12/fep-1b12.md#the-announce-activity

After the group successfully verifies and wraps the received activity, it sends it to the inboxes of its followers. Followers then use the outer Announce activity to verify that the content was really approved by the group. After this step the Announce can be discarded and only the inner activity shown to users.

Cloudflare Challenge?

Since lemmy.world is now behind Cloudflare, is it possible that federation is hit by Cloudflare Challenges as described here?

No federation from source to lemmy.world

No federation from lemmy.world to source

Note that I pulled my post to the source instance by searching for it from there, but updates/edits are still not federated. This post also has a reply from a lemmy.zip user which hasn't been federated to lemmy.world yet.

For the past days I've noticed that posts/comments I make on my lemmy.world account are not (or rather very slowly, if ever) federated to the source instance of the community and post/comments that are on the source are not (or rather very slowly, if ever) federated to the local copy on lemmy.world.

The result is again (as it was before 0.18.1) that lemmy.world users are living in a bubble in which they see each othery posts/comments but nobody else does.

Is this a known issues and is this going to be addressed?

How much time does ArenaNet expect us to spend on Festival Activities in a week? This year's main incentive are probably the additional Sun-Grown Weapon (Skins).

I finished (Annual) For Winds Customs for the first skin at around 100/200 of the weekly progress after about 4 days of doing little more than completing the festival dailies. From there on it gets pretty tedious to get more skins, but you can only get 1 annual + 3 (or 4, ouch!) weekly chests anyway this year. Then why make it so time-consuming (and boring) to get them?

I'm going to get a few (probably 3, e. g. Longbow, Greatsword and Hammer) for my Ranger to complement the look of his Back item.

So, how many skins are you planning to get this year?

In cases like this, we’ll be making sure that runes with duplicate 1-5 bonuses have unique 6 slot stats. In this example, 25% movement speed will count as a stat increase and will be seen on a handful of rune 6 pieces.

Consistently inconsistent. As we know it. And it's obvious that the whole system is far from being thought through.

Unique 2 and 4 slot bonuses will become raw stats. (Boon and condition duration increases are not considered unique and will not be removed from runes.)

So my beloved Runes of the Traveler are unchanged and I get to equip a Relic on top of it. Deal!

Not sure how I feel about this. Another system coming to the game (did anybody ask for this?) and it does not seem like ArenaNet has fully thought it through one month before it goes live.

I was hoping for a change that makes gearing for different/multiple builds more accessible.

Even more single player content?

Challenge Mode section of GuildJen's Silent Surf Fractal Guide

And here is MightyTeapot's video of the fight/kill for comparison. We all love playing circus horse simulator, right? And maybe the Axe Skin (reward) is just a placeholder.

I tried ... to more or less guess what ArenaNet's reasoning is. Personally I wouldn't mind Rifle on Ranger, but then I probably want Dwarf as a playable race, too. 😎

I think when you have unlocked the Skyscale and/or the Griffon before and combine this with the SotO Masteries you get extra benefits like mounted ley line gliding.

There is actually an ongoing discussion on GitHub about caching/proxy-ing image resources to improve performance and hide user IPs, etc.:

I've watched roughly half of the guides and I'd say they are a bit too much for a new player and actual experts will probably know most of the stuff being said ....

... but for a Casual Guild Wars Veteran like me they really hit the spot. There are still so many builds and parts/aspects of the game I haven't tried that I immeditely felt the itch again.

What a great game was and still is Guild Wars 1

To me it seems that the Community here is growing slowly but steadily and so far it appears to be a much more friendly place than I remember r/guildwars2 to be.

All (at least one of each on each of my 2 accounts), but most are Female Norn followed by Male Charr and Female Sylvari. The Main on my primary account is a Female Norn Necromancer/Reaper and on my secondary account it's a Female Sylvari Necromancer/Scourge.

Finding good looking (other than heavy) armor for Charr is actually quite difficult. My Charr Ranger is wearing an almost complete set of Accursed Armor which imho is one of the few medium armor sets that works on Charr. What kinda pisses me off about Male Charr is the "new" muffled player character voice and that mounts look generally too small for them. Otherwise Male Charr especially in heavy armor could easily be my favorite characters in the game. (Guess who is my favorite NPC in the game.)

My Sylvari are wearing mostly racial or Nightmare armor, because I found these to be the only sets which actually fit the race. But then they look awesome.

Finding armor for Asura is also quite difficult. But I noticed that pieces that in my opinion look too flashy or clunky on bigger characters often work quite well on Asura.

From all races I find Human to be the most boring to play Fashion Wars with. I agree with the following statement I remember reading on Reddit a while back:

Norn Females (as opposed to Human Females) look like they actually eat once in a while.

Full Set (28)

This will look terrible witch the 29th slot from purchasing SotO ... haha.

Also, I'm a big fan of account-wide QoL improvements and willing to pay money for them, hence I have the full set of the shared slots, unlimit gathering tools, Copper-Fed Salavage Kit (the silver-fed isn't worth it, use a mystic kit instead), Lounge Pass(es), Material Storage Expansion up to 1K, etc.

Of course the value of account-wide upgrades increases with the number of characters you (actively) play on your account. To me the Shared Slots are a very high priority and I'd buy them before any cosmetic items or BL keys or equipment/build templates from the gem store.

Updates to the Specter and Scourge builds postponed after the July 18th patch for obvious reasons.

[-] necropola@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Luckily or sadly (depending on how you see it) most cosmetic armor from the gem store are outfits and not separate pieces which can be mixed and matched. None of my 18 characters is wearing an outfit and none wears a complete set of a particular armor.

You may be right there. On the other hand splitting the Twitter user base between two commercial platforms is probably still better than everyone being on Twitter.

I'm beginning to wonder, if Threads is actually going to connect to the Fediverse or rather which kind of evil restrictions Meta is planning to apply. I mean, if people who are using Mastodon could follow and interact with their friends and celebrities on Threads, there would be no reason at all to have an Instagram account and/or to use any of Zuckerberg's intrusive apps.

My guess is that Meta/Threads will only allow their users to access and interact with Federated content but not the other way which will most likely lead to most Mastodon instances deferating from Meta at once.

Looking forward to having a lot of popcorn 🍿 ...

Hey all, Metabattle has put the finishing touches on our guide to the new fractal:

As usual, we've tried to pack in as much detail as possible, and it joins our ever-growing guides sections that now cover PvE, PvP and WvW!

The guide will also be updated to include CM mechanics when that arrives.

I have to go through the "forgot password" procedure everrytime I'm relogging, i. e. after deleting the lemmy.world site data in my browser.

I can use (enter and verify) the same password without problems, but a normal login is curently not possible.

Update: I was able to login now. Did not change anything on my side. It just suddenly worked. Fingers crossed.
