can't see through the paywall but it should be noted that Ranga Dias isn't the person responsible for the LK-99 superconductor claims that are making the news rounds. He made some claims in March and afaik they're already pretty widely debunked... although to be honest I only just learned about the guy through the lk-99 stuff.

Sounds like you need some friends, friend. Those aren't them.

It's not even really that. Paris Hilton? As replaceable as the next individual human. Almost totally without any production or material value, yet loaded with worth. There are dozens of people like her. Or on a smaller scale, many mid-upper level managers are completely interchangeable and produce little to nothing, but are valued far more than someone working in a packing plant.

Worth and value have no correlation in our society. People who have money have it because they have money, not because they work harder or do more important things. Some people do have money and also work hard or do important things, sure, but it isn't correlated.

Great idea! If members of the working class fight amongst each other, it's a great way to get the people reaping the profits to listen.

You're directly serving the studios by acting like this. You could have said something like "This is awful, and the actors even do better than crew members, it goes all the way down." Instead you decided you should attack the other people who can't make rent.

Can confirm. Sh.itjust.works has gone to shit and several of the responses I've received - and the areas where they (the admins and moderators that is) have remained conspicuously unresponsive - indicate to me that they are, by and large, quite sympathetic to alt-right views, hence their very slow delay. I get the impression that they come at this from an Enlightened Centrist angle, so I don't think they consider themselves sympathetic. it's that kind of sympathy where they think it's fair to equally tolerate group A that just wants to exist and group B that openly calls for violence against group A. Both sides amirite?

I don't really want to get down to it too much more than that.

The outer wilds is mostly pretty chill and relaxing and one of the best games I've ever played. Don't look up spoilers if you pick it. It's a game about exploring and curiosity

It isn't at all a no true Scotsman argument, what are you talking about?

You can be a leftist and not be bigoted. Bigots also join the left, we can't help that, but that's because they personally are bigoted, not because the ideology is. In fact, most modern leftism argues that bigotry is fundamentally at odds with the core ideals, and in my experience a majority of the left, at least in English speaking countries, wants to distance these people.

You cannot be a fascist without being bigoted. Being bigoted is part of the ideology. It aims to spread and teach bigotry, that's the purpose of it.

No true Scotsman would be "yeah but the anti Semitic leftists aren't real leftists", which isn't what anyone said.

Just had one of those conversations the other day, where "We don't want racists around here" met with "why don't you like conservatives". It's funny when they tell on themselves like that.

They're up to two weeks now. I mean it's taking three or more days just to debate removing it and hold an - almost unanimous - vote. They're sending a very clear message that they're much more worried about showing due process towards violent fascists than looking out for the people those violent fascists would target. This whole delay after delay appears to be for the benefit of about twelve if their users, so it must mainly be for the admins themselves

I also have pretty much abandoned my account there

A 3d srardew valley style game where you play as a Hobbit would be just... Sooooo good. Nice

And? Are you concerned they're going to break into your house and depose the bourgeoisie because you followed a community on their instance?

[-] natori@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah. I think the issue in NMS is that they keep adding new systems (good) that do the same things as other systems (hmm) and can't interface with those systems (bad). Like, why is town building not at all like base building? Why does base building have its own rudimentary town building part, but it kinda just stops? Why do they have beautifully realized frigates in space, and crashed frigates ont he ground, but no relationship between the two?

I really want to love it, it contains essentially everything I like in a game, but it just constantly falls short on depth each time. I'm due to go back and sink another few hours into it but I also feel pretty confident that I'll finish off again feeling the ache of missed opportunity.

All that, and also I just think the writing in the game is phenomenally bland. It's not bad at all, it just never captures my interest in the slightest. I'd love to get my hands on the basic framework of the story and totally rewrite it.
