Idk how this news isn't mainstream. A loss of 1,000 satellites before the lifespan of 5 years is a major story.

Completely incorrect. The loss of satellites is directly related to financial ruin. If these payloads are not launched SpaceX has to provide refunds to people especially Amazon. This will bankrupt his company immediately probably why he is asking for money.

According to that site satellitemap.space they've lost over 400 in the past few months alone. They said they source their data from a site defense contractors use space-track.org

The world would be a better place without SpaceX. Think of how many people could be fed for the price of the billions in losses.
