I see. I did observe how people, both lemm.ee users and hexbear.net users, in this thread are just criticizing each other without opening their mind to what the other side has to say. I think this thread has already become a flame war, and I apologize for starting this. Do lock the thread if you feel the need.

To solve the harassment, maybe you could try using the approach that our (Hexbear) admins have taken? Namely, liberally banning Hexbearians like how we purged dozens of lemm.ee users a couple days ago?

By "us," I meant the userbase of hexbear.net. By the way, can we stop using account age as an indicator of how trustworthy an account is? I jumped to Hexbear 3 weeks ago when the defederation drama on my last instance unfolded.

Thank you. After reading the comments on this thread, I think I kind of understand why so many people consider us obnoxious.

I kindly ask you to edit out the word coward in your comment. I hope that this thread stays unlocked for as long as possible. I also believe that words like these we often use do contribute partly to their hate.

Greetings dear lemm.ee folks,

I have noticed an increasing number of lemm.ee users dissatisfied with Hexbearians. Reading through the modlogs on hexbear.net, I have observed truckloads of lemm.ee users being banned on hexbear.net, meaning that they won't see any Hexbearian's reply to them since Hexbearians aren't able to see their comments. Despite this, I have yet to see the complaints from lemm.ee die down. May I politely ask, what is it that makes so many lemm.ee users hate us? And, how can we improve? Thanks!

I humbly request that all parties involved in the comments refrain from using slurs or name-calling to reduce the workload on mods and admins.

China does not take an interest in spying on the average westerner.

Sorry, I just found out that I missed the sarcasm in "a simple tactic they don’t know of called ‘whataboutism’". I did get the sarcasm for the rest of the post, but for some reason I did not realize that that sentence was also sarcastic. Apparently it's making fun of people calling our arguments whataboutism, lol.

If you don't want to use soy sauce because you don't have it at home, you should go get a bottle at your local supermarket NOW. It's so good. If you don't want to use soy sauce because you just don't like it, then oh well.

Are you sure that we should use "whataboutism"? It's actually a logical fallacy.

Whataboutism or whataboutery (as in "what about…?") denotes in a pejorative sense a procedure in which a critical question or argument is not answered or discussed, but retorted with a critical counter-question which expresses a counter-accusation. From a logical and argumentative point of view it is considered a variant of the tu-quoque pattern (Latin 'you too', term for a counter-accusation), which is a subtype of the ad-hominem argument.

Am I the only one that hates people saying that something isn't good, it's great? It does not make any sense, and it's not even funny. It's like the "was I a good boy" meme:

explanation of the "was I a good boy meme"

  • Reaper: It's time to go.
  • something: Was I a good _______?
  • Reaper: No.
  • Reaper: I'm told you were the best.

Maybe I'm just too serious.

Judging by your post history you are definitely trying to stir shit up.

Are you implying that hexbear is "abnormal lemmy"? lol
