You could argue that 25% for sync is quite something, and almost double that of the next largest competitor.

And in the next corporate social responsibility report:

We had excellent feedback from our customers related to the reduction of whatever that was, already forgot, with a 100% approval rate, showing that our green agenda is fully un track and highly appreciated.

Because Russia blew up domestic infrastructure, so satellite based communication looked like a decent alternative.

This is something that many admins and mods have been discussing for a while now, and I believe it would be an important feature for lemm.ee as well. Essentially, I would like to limit certain activities to users which meet specific requirements (maybe account age, amount of comments, etc). These activities might include things like image uploads, community creation, perhaps even private messages.

Sounds like the old karma requirements some reddit subs had. While I'm not against that, it would restrict locally registered users more so than others who are posting on lemm.ee communities when their host instance has no such system in place. I'm aware that if they post images those would be uploaded to their home instance and linked here with the patch you mentioned above, but the downside is that local users might feel inconvenienced more so than others. Not saying it's a bad idea though, if we are thinking from a "protect lemm.ee" angle first and foremost.

Automated ML based NSFW scanning for all uploaded images

You might want to reach out to the dev of Sync for Lemmy, ljdawson on !syncforlemmy@lemmy.world, he just implemented an anti-NSFW upload feature in the app to do his part. Essentially, Sync users currently can't post any kind of porn. While I don't think that the CP spammers were using his particular app, or any app to begin with, I do think it's a neat feature to have, but would make much more sense to run server-side.

If there is a god, it takes a special sadist to allow the amount of torment present on earth.

So I prefer to believe there's no higher spirit ravelling in the suffering of all creatures rather than there being a malevolent creator watching with glee as we die a slow, painful death.

Yes I had stripes, cubes, whole steaks, burger mince and whatnot, and just don't enjoy it in whichever fashion.

There, I said it. Had some Wagyu A5, genuine certified import from Japan prepared by an actual chef on a handful of occasions. The last one was on Saturday as part of a business conference in the exec suite of some fancy hotel, talking to potential investors.

The set menu cost the equivalent of $700 per person, wines not included.

And. I. still. don't. like. it.

The meat is simply too rich, too soft, too greasy. There's no bite to it. Every time I try it, it reminds me of sucking on a piece of beef flavored butter. A slightly solidified cube of beef lard.

Just give me a Black Angus rump or sirloin steak if you must, that's pretentious enough at a fraction of the cost and provides such a nicer eating experience.

And please, PLEASE, for the love of everything holy, don't give me Wagyu cubes topped of with steamed foie gras. That's akin to buttering your lard. Maybe in 50 years when all my teeth are gone, I'll appreciate being able to grind down a piece of beef between my gums. But as it stands, the Wagyu hype couldn't die fast enough.

Nothing. She has a login on my system and can access pretty much anything already, minus emails and dropbox I believe. But there's nothing worth hiding either.

It's been 3 days. As a former prison inmate, they most certainly had his DNA on file.

How exactly is "active" measured?

Logged in? Commenting? Posting? Net time spent on Lemmy?

I feel like the metrics need to be a bit more refined to actually make a qualified statement.

Wow, they started inventorizing products after only 17 years in operations. Highly efficient!

It's not that unusual. I work in the medical device industry and we need to do quite some testing with early prototypes for all sorts of stuff like biocompatibility, cytotoxicity, hemocompatibility as well as pressure tests, drop tests, leakage testing and whatnot. Each and every one of those prototypes is hand made and therefore the "only one".

Even if they pass one test with flying colors and no visible damages, we couldn't use them in another test because they need to be factory new to satisfy regulatory protocols.

Normally we don't ask for those back, we are more interested in the ones that failed a particular test.

Now we wouldn't want our prototypes to be auctioned off, naturally, so the test centers we work with have to ensure they'll be destroyed (we have contracts and NDAs in place). But not wanting a prototype back after a third party played around with it is way more common than you think.

Hi all,

New to the instance but not to Lemmy in general, I've moved over from lemmy.world due to their federation/blocking policy and hope I'll find my new home here.

Now, one thing I've been looking for anywhere in the fediverse is a news (worldnews) community where bot posts are not allowed. Is anyone aware of such a project?

I know that I can block bots or hide bot accounts altogether, but that's not really helping - the bots are still there, other users see their posts, and there's no incentive to post the same news to the same community by actual users, meaning I'm missing out.

What I'm mightily annoyed with are that bots spam communities with just about every story in the books, from actual newsworthy events to clickbait rubbish, and of course they don't have any actual interest in the topic nor means to engage in discussions.

So I'd love to have a place where actual humans post articles they personally consider useful, to have higher quality content as well as engagement. Curated news, in a way.

Is anyone aware of such a community, be it here on the instance or elsewhere?

Thanks a bunch!
