That only blocks Safari, no? Whah about the rest of the apps?

Are we still doing phrasing?

[–] anakronos@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Oh you can say it alright, it means black. It's quite a common word too, and it's given rise not only to toponyms and family names, but even designated origin products and some cultural references.

Like the Black forest (Schwarzwalder), Black forest ham and blackface (Gesichtsschwärzung).

Water stops fire because it spills over the burning mess and starves it of oxygen.

A burning lithium cell releases both oxidizer and fuel, which, because of the temperature, can now burn more of the lithium cell and release more oxidizer and fuel.

Which essentially burns down to LiPos can burn underwater and water won't quench them.

Also, blasting a ship with water means that it will, eventually, sink. Spilling its own heavy fuel, and all the cargo onboard into the sea.

Right. But bananas aren't a brand. Nor jeans. Yet there were still none.

And there was no decent drink with a communist brand that tasted remotely close. Every available drink was absolute shit. As a kid I'm not gonna care about a communist utopia, I'm gonna care that Coke tastes nice, I'm 6, and nothing I find anywhere tastes remotely as good.

As for sanctions, no, as a communiest sympathizer, you should probably read Kruschev's biography made from his tape recordings. He deals extensively with importing foreign goods and the problems he had.

tl;dr foreign currency, not sanctions. If you don't make things other countries wanted, they won't pay you, so you have none of their money to buy the things they make.

That's why a lot of commie countries (second world) exported raw materials to the first world and there was interest in their manufactured goods only from the third world. Why buy eastern european Z80 clone automations and PLCs when their productions can't even match your demands?

Let alone the problems DDR had with their silicon fabs and Z80 clones (made after USSR clones).

But sure, attack the brand, not the idea i'm spelling out.

If there was no Coke, then I wouldn't have had the displeasure of not having Coke. Nice take, let everybody suffer for the common good.

Your study is literally saying that deindustrialization was an indirect cause of more direct social causes

Both countries experienced deindustrialisation, but social and economic policies have offset Hungary’s more immense industrial employment loss. The results are relevant to health crises in other regions, including the deaths of despair plaguing the American Rust Belt

I didn't "get my life" amigo, I was six when communism fell. I got two hours of TV, cold winters with centealized heating cut out, rolling blackouts. I don't regret that.

I don't think it's unfair to not want to suffer through a shit life. I don't think a lack of viable products (thus, deindustrialization once you can't compete) is a cause of mortality, but a consequence. If your country built wooden train toys while the imperialist pigs rolled with the TGV, of course they also worked on extending your lifespan.

And they probably made CNC machines to make nice wooden train toys too, instantly, unlike your shitty handmade ones. So of course you can't even export them. And of course you have no chance of making CNC machines either, since you had no viable precision mechanics industry or cheap computers.

I don't think the rich should suffer because I don't have it as good.as them. Fuck em, there always were rich people.

And while I don't like rich people, the idea that everybody should return to communism and suffer through my very bleak childhood, simply so nobody has better things is silly.

That's a cult promising redemption. That's Guyana, or Élan school. Suffer now for better things later. We all suffer.

Metric screws are anything but custom. They are the most widespread screw standard in the world.

While I like Lemmy & the Fediverse, i'd really like to not see ads for commumism every now and then.

I come from an ex commie country, grew up as a kid, and man... not having jeans buyable anywhere, not having Coke, bananas being a black market delicacy, and being hauled in every food queue so my parents could get a few more kgs of flour and sugar on their allowance rationing cards gets old fast. As a kid.

I can't imagine living through that now as an adult.

Gladly, my country is now an economic powerhouse, as all ex commie countries became, after the fall of the Iron Curtain. The factories were so good and so competitive that they instantly killed US, Japan and Korea's economies.

You might have heard of us, we are the booming economies of Eastern Europe. One single country here has 50x the GDP and HDI of USA and Canada combined. /s

But seriously, fuck communism. If you haven't lived through its eternal socialism transitional phase, you should try giving up your creature comforts for an utopia. Yes, shit is bad now. But you need to experience socialism first hand to see how worse it can get.

You think the rich taking over is bad? How about the rich taking over and getting your intetnet censored, and given "citizen points", for dissing out others or participating in social services? Citizen points without which you can't even buy train tickets. Cause that's what China does.

How about being consider a public menance inciting against the system for saying we are doing communism wrong? How about being hauled to jail for being unemployed? The legal term here was parasitism, and no, instagram and youtube doesn't count and LLCs don't exist for your income, you need a job the state considers a real job. How about the police pulling your ass over at 23:00, because you are not at home sleeping for tommorow's glorious workday? How about needing a special exemption (ie: as an actor) to grow long hair as a dude?

Fuck communism. Fuck /u/spez, but really, really fuck communism.

Shit man, 60? Kudos to you and being part of the fledditors.

I remember thinking, as a kid, "being 13 sounds like such a cool age". In a blink of an eye I was 13 and it felt meh, but 30 is cool, you are wise, independent, have a few grey hairs.

Blink again, I'm 35, and it isn't that cool. I'll be thinking of you, anonymous rexxiter, and this protest, when I'll be 60, as I close my eyes and blink again.

I assume moat of it was welded without the box inside, and the last two bits (on the side) are quite some distance away from the gift. So when those were welded, they didn't heat up the box.

But now the box would wiggle side to side in the frame.

That's how I'd do it, anyway.
