My in-laws are always doing that, too. They'll even spend money on things knowing fully we wont consume them, only to pout. We have a bunch of decoritive imported goods, lol.

Of course spending trends affect the market. Meat processing facilities are slowly closing all over.

Not that this bullshit, empty-headed comment warranted a reply.

Your skepticism based on nothing. Giving them your money supports their negative impact.

One of the things that made it hardest for me was being teased and picked on by my family, while I wasn't asking anything from them. I just didn't want meat with dinner. It was nonstop anytime I showed my face, and if I spoke I was spoken over and ignored. It made me very antisocial, and I didn't adhere to my values. Then almost twenty years later I did and I've gained a bunch of weight because I'm comfortable while I eat.

Like most things, you learn as you go. I just learned my dishsoap isn't vegan, but I already have it, I'm not throwing it away now. I just wont buy it again. I'll be checking the next soap I buy. Each new thing needs to be researched. I'm just more comfortable with my choices than I was before.

Peer pressure is pretty rude, though. One ribbing is fine, but after that it's just pride and bullying.

The worst part was that she had no dark hour of realization of being a monster while she lived and I have no faith in the afterlife. She just won life. Like it was a video game and we all didn't matter.

Trader Joe's has amazing chorizo, Violife from Costco for the ultimate bargain, sundried tomatoes from BJ's, and the spouse buys the nooch in insane quantities from some mysterious source.

As Steve Hughs put it "what the fuck did you think that I was going to spend it on?"

[-] a_lemmy_user 4 points 1 year ago

I thought that was the joke at first.

Not the person you replied to, but I was going to say "tunics," but their comment covers that more broadly. Something that covers you up, but is easily to style with a jacket, scarf, vest or other accessories. Jeggings are very comfortable if you want something tighter.

Yep, forget the glass. I would probably break the window above it under a bath towel and remove them one by one. Buddy required. Not saying to try it.

Edit: Expletives. Just open the right hand side.

This is the thread that made me make an account and what a pain it was to find without having saved it anywhere. I've been holding out for someone to say it, but havwn't seen it specifically.

Single use plastics. I still remember the weird feeling of doom when learning the world population and making the quick relation to disposable plastics, constantly being told "but it's only a little bit." A little bit for several thousand years, per billions, is too many bits.
