I get the majority of my son’s stuff on Vinted and sell on stuff that’s still decent quality, the cost of new clothing for kids just keeps sky rocketing and they only fit into them for such a short time anyways.

I also go to local kids’ clothes and toys charity sales and find so much for him, especially barely used books for mere pence!

That makes so much sense. I’m gonna start doing that myself. Thanks for the tip!

That’s interesting, what are the benefits of having a different app for different servers?

I’ve been using Voyager (or wefwef as it used to be known) since day one here at Lemmy. Moved over from Reddit when the API changes were announced, and then any potential negotiations with Reddit and third party app developers broke down.

Has anybody got any tips or tricks for weaning a resistant 27 month old? I’ve got him down to 1 or 2 feeds a day but I’m finding those hard to drop.

My son is a comfort nurser and some recent setbacks of illnesses, starting nursery etc, seem to have made it harder for him. :(

All the time! I studied Latin and Classical History for years so it’s a deep interest of mine. I often reminisce about the trip I took to Italy with my Latin class to visit Pompeii and Herculaneum.

This is so wholesome. I love finding hand made knitted/crocheted items for my toddler when I’m shopping second hand. I always like to think that their creator would be happy to know that they’ve kept another little one looking cool and keeping warm ‘n cosy with their labour of love. :)

I’m listening now and enjoying it! I feel like these would be a great soundtrack for an indie game :)

I challenged myself one night to record myself improvising on my piano, after a few glasses of wine. I ended up lost in some kind of trance pouring my heart out into the keys. I’ve never been quite able to recreate it again.

I still enjoy listening to it from time to time, it’s a shame I had let a friend borrow my studio mic and just had my phone to record with at the time. Although perhaps the grainy phone recording quality is what adds to the timbre of it.

It is so bittersweet isn’t it? Some days I’m so done with it, feeling touched out and ready to stop, another day I enjoy nursing again and the intimacy it brings. I’ve heard from some mums that their baby pretty much weaned themselves, and heard from others that they had to stick to a strict mantra to themselves to cut the feeds. Each kid is so different.

At the end of the day, what matters most is your baby having a happy mum around. You’ve done so well to breastfeed this long and given your little one an amazing start. If you are ready to stop then that is the best thing for you and your baby. If you aren’t ready to stop then by all means enjoy continuing your breastfeeding journey until either you or your little one are ready to stop. There’s no rush or timeline, whatever personally works for you is the right answer. :)

I’m currently weaning at 26 months and it was very much a conscious choice from me as my little boy has been so resistant to it and it’s been a slow process dropping the feeds. Makes me feel so guilty! We are down to one or two a day now. However, he is such a comfort nurser and days where he is poorly he is seeking out feeds to soothe him. He is autistic too and it was a long journey to guide him away from using the boobs as a way to calm down and regulate himself when he is having a meltdown/shutdown.

If you do want any tips on how I weaned some feeds out of his routine please let me know.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I really went back and forth on this one a lot. Ultimately, I think you’re absolutely right - it goes against the spirit of what this community is all about.

I captured this little snippet of multitasking as a nursing mama, it makes me smile looking back at it. I was running late for something important and I was super stressed out as my little one was crying for me, so I plopped him up next to the sink so I could carry on getting ready. I caught sight of us in the mirror and laughed at how peaceful he now looked juxtaposed to my anxious expression. It calmed me down and I’ll treasure this picture forever. Sometimes nursing works the other way around and comforts us instead. :)

Yes, I did spill toothpaste on his head shortly after. It’s a work in progress… 😂

I was really conflicted whether to flag this as NSFW, as personally I don’t think there’s anything wrong with seeing a woman nursing their child in public, but I also didn’t want anybody getting questionable looks if a boob is on their screen while browsing at work. So I opted for NSFW in the end. I would love to know your thoughts on this in the comments. :)

ETA: I’ve unflagged this as NSFW after hearing some thoughts from other users and also opening Reddit for the first time in forever to refresh myself on how the breastfeeding community handled it over there.

Always love this tune!

Old skool classic

Chilled, jazzy dub vibes :)

Amateur here, made this sampling an old sci fi film called “Devil Girl From Mars” :)
