"Basic Channel is a German techno production duo and record label, composed of Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, that originated in Berlin in 1993. The duo became known in the mid-1990s for a series of vinyl-only releases under various aliases marked by minimalism in both production techniques and graphic esthetics. Basic Channel is widely regarded as a pioneering force of minimal and dub techno. The minimalist esthetics of the 12"s released by the duo / label can lead to ambiguities as to whether the names listed on releases are aliases / project names or just track / release titles, meaning that appearances of those tracks on compilations or DJ mixes were often inconsistently credited." Related Aliases: Maurizio , Rhythmandsound and more.

[LABELS] // Grayscale (scale-limited.bandcamp.com)

Grayscale is definitely a leading force these days. Greyscale was launched in 2012 by Lithuanian producer and DJ grad_u, and photographer Rima Prusakova, set up as a platform for material from grad_u and close friends whilst Prusakova’s b/w analogue photography provides the visual identity of the label.

This thread is meant to open a discussion about everything related to the label, its creators, its Artists, releases etc... Feel free to post your own thread about other Important labels but please make sure to keep the format and syntax.

What do you think of their catalog? What are your favorite tracks? etc...

[LABELS] // Echocord (echocord.bandcamp.com)

"Founded in 2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark by the Danish DJ Kenneth Christiansen. It all started when Kenneth in the beginning of 2002 met Mikkel Meldgaard aka Mikkel Metal in a small recordshop where Kenneth was working. Kenneth has been thinking about starting a label for a while at that time, and when he heard the tracks from Mikkel he knew it was time. Kenneth has always been very inspired from what came out of Berlin and the Hardwax Camp like Basic Channel, Chain Reaction & the DIN label, which you can hear on the label and in his DJ-sets. Echocord Colour was founded in 2008 as the sublabel of Echocord Records."
