it was added on like day 2 of the app being available or something like that.. maybe day 1, but the option was not there immediately

for legal reasons, I don't pirate anything.. but a friend told me that piracy is more convenient, and that it has more benefits (like, retain 'ownership' of content without annoying DRM)

train of thought (legal): what streaming service do I need to subscribe to to watch this? okay lemme go grab my wallet and sign up for an account

train of thought (piracy): click download

if companies don't want you to pirate their media, they should make it more convenient and flexible to purchase legally. adding DRM and making things subscription-only will push more people towards piracy.

I tried explaining it in simple terms to a few non-tech-savvy friends and they said it sounded "too complicated." and they'd rather just deal with the ads than mess around with it.

LOL! All of your sources are from Mozilla themselves. Delicious bias irony.

Not ironic at all. If missing the point was a flavor, you'd be the most delicious dish.

When Mozilla says that "Private Browsing does not make you anonymous on the Internet" you're saying they're lying? Are you telling me that private browsing does make you Anon? In that case you're the liar.

Of course I'm going to link to Mozilla to give an example of their claims (true or not.) maybe if you think that they're lying about the claim of "private browsing not making you anonymous" try to provide some reasoning as to why :)

Firefox can happily lie to you and you'll buy it, you'll buy it so much that you don't see in between the lines.

bruh chill, how tf they lying? the feature works exactly as expected/advertised. it's not Mozilla's fault if people don't know how to read.

"Important: Private Browsing does not make you anonymous on the Internet. Your Internet service provider, employer, or the sites themselves can still gather information about pages you visit. Private Browsing also doesn't protect you from keyloggers or spyware that may be installed on your computer. To learn more, see Common Myths about Private Browsing."

I hate myself

[–] Hate@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

but then I just end up hearing the first word of each sentence as I read and it ends up like, “The… A… My… Who…. What… how…. When… over….”

for games like that, check if they have a different language that's voice acted, many RPGs will have Japanese voice acting, and that helps avoid this problem

I have a personal computer, but if I'm going to be sitting at my computer, I'm not usually going to be browsing social media (besides video host/stream platforms)

and I prefer not to browse social media at work using my accounts.

I used the reddit version long enough, I figured I'd buy the $100 ultra just to support ljdawson.
