The title feels a bit off. I doubt very many of the subreddits have actually "relocated". As the site itself states, these are just lists of alternatives that provide topics that match existing subreddits.

Most of the subreddits mentioned are still going to be active (especially in comparison to their alternatives) for the foreseeable future.

I think you've summarized the biggest problem with Halo currently. Even if you enjoy the game, its one if those games you play for a while, maybe beat the campaign and then move into other games.

It just doesn't feel like a flagship title anymore. And if it wasn't for the Halo name it would be even more forgettable then it is now.

I was a big fan of the settlement building in Fallout 4. Was one of the mechanics that kept me coming back for later playthroughs and made the world feel less static and that I could actually have an impact on it. Especially instances like seeing one of the supply chain NPCs from one of my settlements walking around in the world.

For months, the BBC has been communicating in secret with three North Koreans living in the country. They expose, for the first time, the disaster unfolding there since the government sealed the borders more than three years ago.

Starvation, brutal crackdowns, and no chance to escape.

There is at least a decent advantage in the flip phones of having the screen protected when the phone isn't in use. I could see them potentially becoming more popular over time if they are improved upon and become cheaper, if only for that reason.

Arm-chair babbling idiot who plays too much video games here, I am one hundred percent convinced that it has nothing to do with visual fidelity and everything to do with that asthmatic engine they've been dragging since Morrowind.

Code doesn't go bad with time, that's not really how it works. And game engines tend to be a Ship of Theseus situation, where just because it's still the same "engine" in theory, doesn't mean that large parts (or all of it), haven't eventually been replaced or refactored over the years.

Unreal Engine has been around for 30 years at this point, would you also consider that an "asthmatic engine"?

lemmy.ml isn't explicitly "tankie" but the main devs are and the moderation will include not allowing posts/comments critical of China/Russia/communism/etc.

Their aim plainly was not to kill the peaceful protestors but to capture or kill militants who demonstrated a willingness to kill in cold blood. The civilians who were killed were caught up in that crossfire.

Let's assume you are right that soldiers never purposefully shot civilians as their main goal. Unless you are claiming that these "militants" were fighting with their own guns, I don't see how firing blindly into groups of protestors with firearms is that much better?

But I don't believe that violence against the protestors was never part of the plan. Just like in the US I would never put it past the government to use violence, "accidental" or otherwise, as part of a scenario to suppress a large-scale protest movement.

{Caution} Lastly, here’s an article written arguing that the event is misrepresented in mass media. I link it mainly because it includes photographic evidence that is very difficult to argue with for reasons beyond it being difficult to look at. Graphic depiction of stripped corpses of soldiers that were strung up after death.

"Here are photos that show things other than soldiers shooting civilians proving that soldiers didn't shoot civilians!" isn't as convincing as you might think it is. And wow, that article doesn't even pretend to not be straight up propaganda.

Authoritarians really don't like when it they can't control communication, which definitely includes creative expression in media. Games fall under that umbrella so the government is going to do what it needs to in order to keep enough control over the media in question.

The "reasons" why aren't really important and will be figured out and thrown around as needed. But it really just comes down to control.
