‘Poor little innocent users’ that’s one of the most condescending things I’ve heard in 50 years of being online. I’m beginning to think some of the proponents of instant defederation are themselves agitators.
They can make accounts but Mastodon/Lemmy etc doesn’t offer complete migration yet. So they’ll be losing their posts (and some followers as that doesn’t work fully at the moment).
The flaw in that argument is that not everyone on the instance is a weed. Especially in the case where a new users join. So your not helping the good stuff grow. You are cutting it back along with the weeds.
Also, did you mean to write that you chose your instance because it’s a home for piracy and anarchism? If so, what you going to do when it gets defederated?
According to the OP the far right has just joined because the admin went MIA. There will have been regular users who joined before the far right took over.
You need to think about what you mean by stock Android. If you mean a phone that had Google on it but you got rid of the Google parts such as GMS then that’s not really stock and won’t increase your privacy.
As you know there are more privacy friendly distributions based either on AOSP or Linux. But you will not be able to use apps that rely on Google services.
So the decision will come down to what you use the phone for.
Slightly off topic, but the number of bits doesn’t necessarily describe the size of memory. For example most eight bit processors had 16bit data busses and address registers.
Some processors that were 32 bits internally have 24bit memory addressing.
I agree, I was in feddit.Uk which was/is often overloaded and every time it stopped responding I couldn’t do anything even if I changed accounts.
