It is odd that community bans don’t come with any communication.

Voyager has updated to support 0.19
I took this up with Lemmy devs and was pointed here: https://lemmy.ml/post/5711722 Where 0.19 was described and admins warned not to use it in production and to have backups due to it being unstable.
I think the situation is:
Lemmy V0.19 uses a different authentication method to 0.18 and earlier.
It isn’t possible for a web app to know the Lemmy version initially.
So a web app can be compatible either with 0.18 or 0.19.
When most instances have updated to 0.19 or higher then the web app will switch to 0.19 only
Native apps aren’t affected
I think it’s a pretty accurate answer. The OP asked why it’s sometimes calked poaching and sometimes boiling. The answer being that they aare different things.
The TestFlight version of Avelon now supports 0.19 but it won’t be in the App Store for a few weeks.
Thanks for responding. It’s disappointing that not a single third party app seems to work with 0.19RC.
Can nothing be done ?
Today, I tried Bean. Trying to login gives an error message “Cannot read property “local-user-view” of undefined “
Just to test, I logged out of Voyager. Trying to log in again gives an error
Still not working on:
Avelon, photon.app - login fails
alexandrite.app - login gives a message that it’s only compatible with 0.18.1 or newer and fails to login
Voyager - was already logged in. Timeline shows but list of communities won’t load.
Thanks for your efforts but as a user this seems like too much hard work. I’ve reluctantly created an account at lemmy.world. Is there no way that we can’t go back to 0.18.5?
I’ve been told by a couple more developers that as v0.19 is about a month away they aren’t updating yet.
Is there no way we can downgrade to v0.18.5
I’ve been told by another developer that v0.19 is at least four weeks away and so there’s no urgency in adding v0.19 compatibility.
Not sure I can put up with the web interface that long.
Is there absolutely no way that we can roll back to 0.18.5?
I think the other thing to remember is that in different English speaking countries the word as a verb causes a different level of offence.
In British English it’s not offensive at all to say someone was b***ing about something.
