Or with the _r32 suffix. So many of those.

Yeah I need to get my Saturn 2 up and running again. Just haven’t had time. I keep it in the garage but there isn’t any ventilation in there. I ordered the new stand alone Elegoo carbon filter but it won’t arrive until august. Been considering cutting a hole in a wall and adding active ventilation.

So in theory once it’s cured and cleaned it’s solid but the reality is we don’t really know that to be true. And my concern here is this isn’t something you might pick up now and again. This is something you’ll be in contact with hours at a time. Sweat and oil mixing into it.

The best evidence I have on this is the fact that transparent resins often, if not sealed in a UV blocking clear coat, turn yellow. And traditional resins if not similarly sealed or sealed in an opaque layer (primer and paint) will crack if left exposed to UV light. That tells me the chemical reaction can continue and that they aren’t as inert as say the resins used in wood turning that have a chemical catalyst.

Just want folks to be safe! But I’m betting you know the risks better than most.

So… I don’t want to be a buzz kill.

Have you sealed the resin? Much like urushiol and latex if you expose yourself to resin enough you can develop an allergy even if you didn’t have one before. No resin is body safe. And the thing with transparent/translucent resins is we want to show them off. Because it looks cool! But it’s poison. When printing miniatures and statues you intend to paint it’s easy. You have to primer them to get the paint to stick so you don’t have to worry as much.

Anyway rant aside. It looks cool!

I’ve been on Reddit for too long. It’s so good at just eating away at the most precious resource we have. Time.

However, for all its faults it has been the absolute best platform for getting “help” on the internet. I put that in quotes to specifically generalize it. Not degrade it. One of my hobbies is 3d printing, both FDM and SLA. I am terrible at it! I have problems all the time. If I am struggling and needed support I rarely went to discord. I went to Reddit. Discord is a never ending stream of thoughts. It wasn’t organized. I can’t easily search it for answers. And if someone helped me or I help someone else, on Reddit it would persist and be indexed. On Reddit people were there to help me make sense of all this insane technology.

I can extend this to finding trustworthy service providers in my area, or career advice, or a place to help me walk back from the ledge when it’s 12:30pm on a Sunday and my dog just threw up…

The thing that made Reddit great, to me, was the smaller communities where you could find genuine people who wanted to help you.

So how will that sense of community survive in a federated world where anyone can spin up their own node.

On hacker news, since the protest started, I have seen so many posts by people promoting their Reddit alternative projects. And they are commendable. But I’m just worried. Everything is fracturing.

If 5-10% of redditors got to Lemmy. And maybe 0.05% go to each of the random Reddit alternatives… will any of them reach that critical mass of passionate helpful experts?

This is what I’m afraid of losing by turning off Reddit.

Anyway Apollo forever. Screw u/spez

Please verify. I could be wrong but I know I’m not. Mango is my favorite fruit!

You’re basically asking me to ddos you… ;)

Dude my wife got it on her face last year. All her family asks her to do their gardening because I retired her. So frustrating.

Little know detail - mango trees produce urushiol! The mango we buy has been bred to reduce this but if you are very sensitive you can have a reaction from the skin of the fruit.

Even lesser known detail - my army of siblings and I are mostly immune to it. If we get exposed enough we will start reacting so I don’t push my luck

He seems like a pretty genuine person. I hope everyone goes to Lemmy and he migrated his awesome program to it. Though not sure how APIs work across instances.
