FIRMware is SOFTware (code) that contains the instructions to run HARDware. In most cases you would experience it, hardware is running an OS (Operating System) which manages all of the firmware ‘packages’. Many electronics, particularly more sophisticated, have firmware that is directly loaded onto the device which has a proprietary OS with limited to no graphical interface.

I am a layperson so if an expert can weigh in on my take I’d appreciate it!

Major Who Framed Roger Rabbit vibes.

As a a died in the wool Lithuanian through band through it gave me a warm feeling seeing this on Lemmy as the Lithuanian subs are not yet populated so this has been a glaring hole in my feed.

For anyone interested there is a winter version simply called ‘Barščiai’ which is also amazing.

Skanaus!

I explained it clearly in another comment on this post.

Man, I can’t tell you how many times I hit this on accident and was frustrated.

I can live with it but I also won’t be shedding any tears without it.

And you just know this shit is going to follow him for life. Rich people tend to be smart and have long memories.

Can you imagine walking into Cannes and all of the other rich people point, look, and laugh under their breath?

Or walking past /spez’s 45” Bayliner sremoveding about how he thinks he’s made it with his ‘yacht’.

If the pitchforks ever come out I would hate to be in his shoes.

I’ve tried several formats:

xxxxxx (all lower case, no spaces or special characters) xxxxx@lemmy.world !xxxx@lemmy.world

Hello,

I was trying to create a Lemmy community and keep getting the error ‘please match the requested format’ yet there is no example of what the correct format is. Google didn’t help much either. Is someone able to help me with the correct format please?

I get the impression that the goal is more to have Lemmy fill the hole that Reddit has left rather than duplicating it in some way; Take the good and leave the bad.

Someone shared this website on another post and I thought it was relevant : https://libreddit.hu/

This allows you to browse Reddit without giving it any traffic.

You are a gentleman and a scholar and I salute your efforts!

Thank you for being so generous with your time!

I would agree with you except the actual reviews look really suspicious. They come in blocks of 2-3 next to each other and they are all nonsense. And there’s a fair amount of them.

If this were a highly regarded, honest company I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Having seen numerous examples of their dishonesty in the past month I would say this is par for course.

Reddit has started posting purchased 5 star reviews on Apple Store, wouldn’t be surprised if they were doing on Android as well. This is illegal and you can voice your dissatisfaction with the FTC at the provided link.

Basically what the title says. I know many users here are trying to avoid giving Reddit any traffic and I saw how grateful everyone was on another post where this was done.

A sticky making this a rule would be amazing!
