An iPhone is not a phone and not well designed? Apple put the most thought into every detail and generally works generally well. It's very much well designed because it does exactly what the designers want it to do. Yes it doesn't mean it's an ethical device or tinker- or repair-friendly. It's not a problem, both are true. Yes, the argument stands on its own regardless whether the person is participating in it or not, but if that person wants to do something about it, it does help to not buy into it yourself.
