That's the point, right? If the group can patch up Saudi-Iran relationships, that shows the world what kind of soft power the group has.

Americans want to keep selling weapons to the Saudis, which means they are probably against a Saudi-Iran reconciliation.

When u say US failed to do, you are giving impression that US wanted or tried but failed.

US has severed its relations with Iran since Islamic revolution more than 50 years ago. Its not beneficial for them that Saudi Arabia (their ally) have good relationship with Iran.. Now that relationship between Saudi Arabia and US is getting worse after murder of the journalist khashougji and Biden calling for Bin Salman to be punished, China stepped in and tried get the two countries together

Ramaphosa and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva left the door open to the possibility of admitting other new members in future.

Lula said globalisation's promises had failed, adding that it was time to revitalise cooperation with developing countries as "there is a risk of nuclear war", an apparent allusion to growing tensions between Russia and the West over the Ukraine conflict.

"We look forward to a continued commitment of cooperation for the prosperity, dignity and benefit of all nations and people around the world," he posted on messaging platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
