Sorry, I had been making some changes to search. Now, all you need to do is enter community@instance.com in search and press "Search Communities". You will be taken directly there.

I had to do it from the Lemmy web. I guess it’s not implemented yet in Memmy

You can add communities from other instances via search but sometimes they don’t show up (especially from small instances). I think that they’re not federated with your original instance yet. So the only option is to add them by web browser.

I had this same problem earlier where I couldn't get the community to pop up either in search or when I put the direct address with the exclamation. Typing a reply with the community address and then clicking on the link worked and allowed me to subscribe from within the community. Not sure why subscribing or finding the community isn't working otherwise.
