It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to !shitreactionariessay@lemmygrad.ml

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again

NYT journalists should be dealt with in the same way as the Nazis they swoon over

[–] aebletrae@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They are, although:—

In America, imagine that anyone who wants to enter the pool has to pass a civics test

gets thrown in without the slightest mention of the history of voting restrictions masquerading as tests.

What's more American than casually preventing brown people from participating in governance?

arent elections the whole thing with democracy?

no.

democracy is collective decision making and action, not vote

[–] GaveUp@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

Well it's that and vote but most Westerners think it begins and ends with just vote

[–] muddi@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago

Gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they mean elections vs other democratic practices like sortition or maybe even direct democracy. The issue being that elections can be rigged or at least turn into popularity contests. Though the other methods have their issues too

I kind of agree. I also like Sortition instead of voting.

Fake account

(Is this real?)

[–] BynarsAreOk@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

Yes

But they changed the title lol lmao even. Either they're painfully aware they're nothing but a shit version of Fox news for libs(i.e just rage bait for ad views) or they realy thought that was a line they couldn't cross just yet i.e their readers are too dumb to realize they're actualy saying this unironically.
