The biggest issue android tablets have is that many apps simply treat them like large phones. So it kind of defeats the purpose for me as I do not watch videos or read lots of text on my phone.

Can't speak to the Pixel Fold, but I'm typing this on my new Galaxy Z Fold 4 that I got today. Had a vertical folding phone before this, but not the large form factor horizontal type. I'm a big fan. Been watching shows on it this evening and the screen is just the right size. I think this style of phone is worth the money, myself.
I pre-ordered in the position, trying a foldable phone for the first time, where if it didn't impress me, I'd just return it and keep my Pixel 7 Pro. There's lots of negative reviews and articles saying, "Not Worth It."
It is for me, I'm hooked. It's a perfect sized front screen for daily use and it's killer having the large screen for multitasking and viewing content. If you can afford it, I think you'll love it.
I'm really excited for what it means for the future! I'm not going to buy a first-gen product like this, but the fact that Google is making a foldable hopefully means that Android is going to become a better experience on devices like these, so when the technology does get cheaper the software will be ready for it. I'm totally onboard with having a larger display in a more pocketable form factor.
At this point, I'm not interested in folding phones. There just aren't many reasons why I would need one right now. I suppose that they would make a nice ebook reader, but day-to-day I don't need that. They are currently a little on the thick side to be keeping in my pocket.
I am happy that they exist and maybe when they get thinner and work out some of the kinks, I might be ore interested.
