We all know Trump is Putin's man in America. We all witnessed his presidency, we all saw their cozy little press conference with their secret little meeting.

It boggles my mind how dishonest or plain stupid one has to be, as a serious journalist, to frame MAGA Putin supporters as something intellectually surprising or out of the ordinary. Trumpism has been Putin's project since day one, and there's no way the journalist is not aware of that.

Journalists are so fucking hungry for a spin they obscure reality in the process.

There is no "Maga Communism", it is just plain neo-fascism.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Wait until people find about the nazis weren’t socialists!

I personally think fascism it's in some POV similar about some things to communism, but definitely are not the same principally in the humanist part.

“If you’re a political movement and you want to get supporters at a time when socialism is attracting more and more interest, well, you might be tempted to grab hold at least of the name,” Wolff said, noting that this was a strategy most famously used by Adolf Hitler during his rise to power.

Yeah. That's why they called themselves National "Socialists". To suck up ignorant working class votes. I mean, they are even openly admitting following the same strategy now and everybody is still sleeping...WTF.

I don’t want to believe this but given the way things keep developing in this saga I bet it fucking works

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 20 points 5 months ago

And again the idiot right has no idea what communism is, whether they claim to oppose it or espouse it.

MAGA communism is when instead of returning the means of production to those doing the work one just starts a authoritarian state capitalist regime. I don't think the government funding gyms is some terrible thing but it won't stop the "feminization" these people decry.

[–] autotldr@lemmings.world 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

This is the best summary I could come up with:

They subscribe to social conservatism in a way that appeals to the growing numbers of gen Z males who believe feminism is harmful to men, and cast issues such as transgender rights, the climate crisis and racial justice as neoliberal distractions.

“One of the reasons for that is the decline in basic masculine virtues, the rise of a kind of effeminization, especially of men.” Hinkle has regularly made anti-trans comments on his own social media, making declarations such as: “We need to protect our youth from trans terrorists and propagandists.”

In a video debunking Maga communism published last year, the Marxist economist Richard Wolff noted that there’s precedent for nationalist movements co-opting communist rhetoric, particularly during times of social upheaval and economic hardship.

According to an infographic regularly recirculated by Hinkle, proposed Maga communist policies include “dismantling big tech”, banning “antifa street terrorism”, ending “woke academia” and subsidizing gyms in every community.

That’s included sharing gruesome images of dead children among rubble in Gaza, posting AI self-portraits in combat gear with the caption “FREE PALESTINE” and hawking coffee mugs with the words “Zionist Tears”, sold at $16.99 a pop.

The event drew together a curious amalgam of far-right and far-left personalities – including Matthew Heimbach, one of the organizers of white supremacist “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, and the former Green party presidential candidate Jill Stein.

The original article contains 3,136 words, the summary contains 227 words. Saved 93%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

Lol at the article being baffled about why Jill "loves Putin's russia" stein would be at an event with other people on Putins payroll.

Not a hard thing to figure out.

[–] jimmydoreisalefty@lemmy.world -1 points 5 months ago

Here is the quote:

Last year, Hinkle spoke at an event at the Reflecting Pool in Washington DC called “Rage Against the War Machine”, which was promoted by Tucker Carlson and hosted by the Libertarian party and the People’s party, which was briefly affiliated with Cornel West.

Jill Stein and many others joined due to being anti war, pro peace.

Hence the name “Rage Against the War Machine”, a play on "Rage Against The Machine", a political rock band.

Not all attendees that gave a speech were really anti war, if you look at just an easy one, Tulsi Gabbard, she is pushing for more war and to help fund them.

Till this day some have kept their word, but others have not.

We must continue to question and be critical of the status quo, while willing to learn and talk to people we do not agree with or those that do not think like we do!

[–] TheJims@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

MAGA is a euphemism for Make Russia Great Again. Republicans are either to stupid to realize it or fully on board with the destruction of the United States.

Awesome, thanks for sharing!
