You could try Menu -> Help -> Troubleshoot Mode. That will restart Firefox without extensions and such - if the problem then disappears, it's probably caused by one of them.

[–] jaagruk@mander.xyz 1 points 5 months ago

Nope. No major changes.

As said issue persists in all gecko browsers it being firefox, librewolf, midori, mercury or anything else. SO it is issue with gecko or something? Not by addons probably.

So you are not using Firefox?

If you actually are using Firefox, you need to provide more information.

What kind of computer are you running?

What operating system and version are you running?

What version of Firefox are you running?

When did the behavior start?

What have you tried to resolve it?

I am an IT technician, I am no speciallst on Firefox or even web browsers, but I will give you a free tip, try a reinstall of Firefox, and if you are on a different browser based on Firefox, get the real version of Firefox, then you can compare the two.

try a reinstall of Firefox

Try a different profile instead. Type about:profiles into the URL bar and hit enter. In there, you can create a fresh profile and launch it. It will be like a factory-reset Firefox, but you can switch back to your current profile, to get back to all your current configurations.

One more thing I remember now. I installed Gnome theme for FF. But that was 2 months ago. Then Theme was not rendering proparly and I removed it as per guide.. Facing issue from then, BUT It is on all gecko based and I removed .mozzila folder atleast thrice. SO,That should not be a problem.

I am using Arch Linux on 2gigs ram and core2duo (It used to work well on this some days ago). Arch is rolling release so arch linux 1. Firefox version 126.0. This behavior started a few days ago without any induction which I can notice. I have reinstalled firefox.Removed all extensions.Removed .mozzila directory.Tried gecko browsers(They all behave same way).Tried non-gecko browsers (They work fine). I use real version just tried others to see I face issue there or not.

Like as I am typing this after 30 minutes of browsing it is smooth but first 3 minutes feels like really slow on any gecko browser.

2GB ram and a C2D?

I think we have found the problem....

A raspberry pi has better specs than that.

If it has worked fine untill now, there was probably a new update that finally pushed it over the edge.

Get that computer to an antique dealer or let it rest in peace.

Even a used first get Ryzen would be faster.

I am sorry, but that is the reality of computing.

Ya probably Any update did all this. I didn't wanted but bye gecko, welcome blink.

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Are you not able to get a better computer?

[–] jaagruk@mander.xyz 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Nope not these days. I am a teen from India (We depend a lot on our family,We cannot buy something without their permission)

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Ah, I am sorry for being rude, thank you for being blunt with the truth and giving me a reality check.

[–] jaagruk@mander.xyz 1 points 5 months ago

Fine dude.Btw any fix

Look I am out of RAM or CPU but hang is only for 3to5 minutes then it is normal. Probably it is a real bug. Also issue is not with ungoogled-chromium nor with palemoon

[–] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

welcome blink

Is blink better on your hardware?

[–] jaagruk@mander.xyz 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Yup, ungoogled chromium is just fine. Thats why I think it is some issue and not hardware problem.

[–] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

If so, I think it'd be cool if you filed a bug report, if possible.

Even if nothing happens immediately, it'll be documented and that's a start, right?

I used to have an issue like that and mine went away when I upgraded my PC from an elderly HDD to an SSD.

[–] jaagruk@mander.xyz 1 points 5 months ago

I have 128GB SSD

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 months ago (2 children)

As others have said, it sounds like a slow disk. Can you share more information?

I have 128GB SSD and my system is installed on it. 2 gb ram and core2duo (It was working fine on it). Issue is on all gecko browsers and not on any other.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

A core2duo is a pretty old CPU (16 years old). Maybe its just the rest of the world moved on? Modern websites are much heavier than they used to be. Additionally you aren't going to be able to do video playback without a newer GPU. The older Intel only supports old encodings. Also gnome takes about 1.2gb which is most of your ram. You are probably swapping like crazy.

It sounds like this is just an issue of dated hardware.

[–] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Is it after an update or is it checking for an update?
Does turning off autoupdate help, if you're on windows?

FF is decent for me, but I've turned off stuff like that

[–] jaagruk@mander.xyz 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Na I have not upgraded arch from like 2 weeks

[–] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Aah. Didn't FF have an update recently?
Did you try that? Maybe it'll help fix this?

And if that does not work, maybe trying out the Extended Support Release would be good?

[–] jaagruk@mander.xyz 1 points 5 months ago

I updated arch last night. No change.

Probably try ESR

I don't know what Librewolf default config uses, but Firefox has a lot of telemetry enabled by default. Maybe Librewolf has all of this enabled, too, and some of the pingback servers are slow?

Read here for telemetry and how to disable it: https://github.com/yokoffing/Betterfox

[–] boredsquirrel@slrpnk.net 4 points 6 months ago

Maybe Librewolf has all of this enabled, too

No.

[–] jaagruk@mander.xyz 1 points 5 months ago

Issue is on librewolf too which do not have telementry by default. Also on mercury and midori
