This is one of those situations where "ok boomer" is an acceptable response.

Buzz-word salad. His constituents are like, "That's right! Got 'em!"

[–] Sharpiemarker@feddit.de 31 points 1 year ago

"Boy I bet those leftist, communist, socialist, liberals are triggered."

[–] DigitalTraveler42@lemmy.world 53 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I love how they assume that we're all a bunch of young kids, I'm in my 40's and I remember doing nuke drills in elementary school and getting shown where the fallout shelters were, my stepdad is just as Left as I am and is twenty years older and his schools also had fallout shelters and nuke drills.

I'd say they need to stop generalizing people, but if they understood nuance and context they probably wouldn't be republicans, however there are plenty of Republicans that do know the differences but just aren't arguing in good faith, now I'm definitely also generalizing them as well by saying that. The people who aren't aware of their generalizations need to realize that old people can be lefties, and young people can be righties, there is no age limit for becoming a fascist asshole and there's no age limit for realizing that capitalism only benefits the wealthy.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Or how about the last few years? Iran threatening nukes, North Korea with ballistic missile threats, Russia threatening to nuke everyone every other day, china building relations with Cuba, drills happening off of Alaska.

I mean, do we face these threats today, no? No idea what that tweet is saying.

[–] DigitalTraveler42@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Good points, and don't bother trying to decipher it, at best Clay is just being an ornery old cuntnugget, at worst he's purposely saying this for political clout, I just ignore him, he's not saying anything smarter than any other Republican right now.

Children today do active shooter drills. I would argue that’s more stressful than nuclear drills as a concept.

[–] MickeySwitcherooney@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Higher up Republicans are also known to fake their opinions for clout/money. Just look at the Tucker Carlson court reveals. Or Trump vastly changing his views to meet what the base wants.

[–] DigitalTraveler42@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are notorious for that garbage too.

[–] athos77@kbin.social 47 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain." - John Adams, the 2nd President of the United States

Sounds like Clay Higgins doesn't believe in making the world better for his children.

[–] SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk 25 points 1 year ago

Does Clay Higgings believe in improving the world for anyone who isn’t a rich, straight, white, able bodied, “Christian”, republican man?

[–] jaanus20@lemm.ee 44 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The threat of nuclear war has never gone away

[–] collegefurtrader@discuss.tchncs.de 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Kids do active shooter drills today

Up yours woke moralists- here is my word salad!

[–] ChairmanSpongebob@hexbear.net 27 points 1 year ago (2 children)

[–] TheLastHero@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

all nuclear weapons were famously disarmed and destroyed once the Cold War ended right?

anyone who spent any time at all alive in the last 78 years in fact

[–] noodle@feddit.uk 22 points 1 year ago

Millennials were born after nukes were invented and while the cold war ended (supposedly), nukes weren't exactly removed from existence.

[–] FARTYSHARTBLAST@kbin.social 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I feel like he asked an intern to come up with a tweet, who then just made a chat bot vomit out some word salad and they posted it without reading it or anything.

I'm a millennial and we had bomb drills in my school growing up, so this guy is not only an idiot, but he's completely full of shit.

[–] Grownbravy@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago

Now reflect upon your woke sky

It sounds like something a MGS villain would say

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago

9/11 brain there: "WE ARE AT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR EVERYTHING WE HOGS WANT IS JUSTIFIEEEEEEEEEEEEEED" frothingfash

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 year ago

"Sir, this is a dictionary."

[–] Veraxus@kbin.social 13 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Any other millennials here vividly remember the nuclear duck-and-cover drills? Because I do. This boomer clown is so out of touch that he doesn't realize that millennials are in their 40s and grew up during the end of the cold war.

im pretty sure living in a nato country next to russia with them giving actual nuclear threats like every other week could be considered living under nuclear threat

[–] XEAL@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

ChatGPT to the rescue

If you don't wanna open the link:

You millennials on the left who haven't experienced the fear of nuclear threats can now think about your woke perspective.

You made a big fuss to save the world from online posts that could cross continents.

It means Rep. Clay Higgins took money from Putin's lackeys.

[–] silent_water@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

finally, conservative comedy. I never believed this was possible.

[–] traveler@lemdro.id 9 points 1 year ago

Putin constantly threatening the use of nuclear weaponry in Ukraine and he’s saying millenials never lived under nuclear threat. We’re all living it right now!

[–] judgeholden@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago

new tagline for hexbear

[–] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Have we not got to the point where we all agree this kind of owning of the right is a pointless distraction that redirects energy away from countering power?

[–] radiofreeval@hexbear.net 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thesis: owning the right does nothing

Antithesis: owning the right is fun

Synthesis: we need a very small group of very dedicated dunkers while everyone else does productive shit

This is a humorous community based on savage comebacks. While you’re welcome to discuss any topic in the comments, the majority of us are here for a chuckle, not political discourse. Plus we’re not all American. In the UK our “right wing” government is arguably* closer to your democrats than republicans.

*not my argument. And I’m not interested in arguing about any topic, particularly politics.

[–] Venus@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

In the UK our “right wing” government is arguably* closer to your democrats than republicans.

Just so you know, republicans and democrats and tories are all far more similar to each other than they are to the political views of even a moderate hexbear user.

We've got widely varied opinions on the best ways to dunk on people though. We tend to just bring them all and see what happens sicko-crowd

I thought the post was funny

[–] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I'm all for dunking on fash don't get me wrong, I'm talking about this specific "actually sir you are actually incorrect actually?" smuglord brand of liberal dunk that has demonstrated itself to just be a tepid fart that completely misses the point that the right doesn't actually care about ideological consistency.

And I'm not sure what the UK political spectrum has to do with anything. I also don't live in the US, but Clay Higgins does.

[–] SomeoneElseMod@feddit.uk 8 points 1 year ago

I suspect you’ll find this community a “tepid fart” as we are here for the “dunk”, and not to discuss political ideologies. But you’re welcome to stay and someone else might be interested in discussing this with you.

Just a reminder to everyone (not you in particular) - arguments are not welcome here. Civil discussion is fine, aggressiveness, nastiness, name calling, etc is not. This counts as an advanced warning; anyone who breaks this rule in this thread will be banned. Please enjoy this lighthearted community in the manner it was intended.

People may find jokes unfunny (or just mediocre) for all sorts of reasons. Impotenly owning Republicans on twitter while they outlaw abortion and string razor wire across the Rio Grande has just run its course for a lot of people.

[–] autismdragon@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

This is a sort of "whats the harm" thing for me.

[–] autismdragon@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

As a fellow hexbear, i find this harmless at worst.
