Full release next year, Wine Fork + fex core and many good things, no bottleneck of any kind. Vulkan 1.1 minimum. Cassia Windows Emu is being developed by Mark and Bylaws, while Strato is the continuation of Skyline by Lynx and TheASV.

Can someone Eli5 what's this about? My guess is this is about windows game emulation on Android.

[–] natanael@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago

Yes, Windows program API emulation on top of x86 processor architecture emulation

Might be serious potential for an Android handheld to rival the Steam Deck. Any whispers about a release date for this or open sourcing?

Wine fork will be open source, the frontend will be closed source for a while. No release date yet, only year.

frontend will be closed source for a while

i.e. forever

To prevent malicious forks of the app like Skyline by mr purple. All is there on Cassia Discord Server with renewed FAQ section.

[–] A_Random_Squid@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ootl but why is Skyline by mr purple counts as a malicious fork?

[–] sarsaparilyptus@midwest.social 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Discord? What, did nobody have an Xfire room? That doesn't inspire confidence.

It'll take more than just a compatibility layer for it to even come close to competing with the Steam Deck, or just Proton in general, IMHO.

Nice, very interesting!

So can Cassia Wine play any DX9 game since you mentioned GTA IV or there are other limitations?

[–] Bizz9172@lemdro.id 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

No limitations. Directx 8 and above supported. 32 bit games including the gta games before V and GTA V too with 64 bit support.

[–] hellequin67@feddit.uk 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So potentially Blizzard games etc? Would be great perhaps on a tablet.

[–] Bizz9172@lemdro.id 3 points 1 year ago

Whatever works in wine or proton will work in Cassia.

[–] Im28xwa@lemdro.id 4 points 1 year ago

This is fucking awesome, I'm so excitedπŸ”₯🀩

[–] aluminium@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

The fact that this is possible blows my mind. I personally can't wait to play Sims 3 on a Tablet.
