Just don't let him debate then. Imagine a GOP primary debate without Trump and how hilarious it would be as they struggle to debate actual policy.

Even a debate without Trump would inevitably devolve into an "I support/don't support Trump" argument as the candidates vie for those voter scraps.
You think they'll debate policy with Trump?
No, but they might debate policy without him.
I say let him participate via zoom, but with a filter applied. My suggestion:
Why would they just apply a Trump filter? That's weird. They should at least do something different.
He doesn't really want to debate, though.
Of course he wouldn’t.
Why would you ask him to? You know his answer. Well he could lie and play coy. But you know he’s not going to abide it.
Absolutely. The orange criminal doesn't think he is obliged to follow any rules or laws, or moral standards.
It's so funny that the RNC has a pledge like boy scouts. That's how you know they don't care about the constitution of rule of law. Their pledge is ment to override the will of the people.
He's only ever been loyal to himself, why would they expect him to be loyal to anything other than that?
Make it a requirement for being on the primary ballot
i guarantee tr*** hasn't read Catch-22, but a loyalty pledge? this is dumber than owlshit from all angles.
Yeah this shit even happens in local elections. Our republican sheriff candidate was decided at a republican meeting rather than an voter primary, and to vote at the meeting you had to sign a pledge. It felt like the year 1905.
Didnt think about that at first, but most of catch22 was less purposefully malicious than the gop right now.
"That's OK, Mr. Trump. We'll still gargle your tiny button mushroom, sir."
He expects them to pledge loyalty to him.
If they want something close to an actual debate it is best if the Orange Shit Fountain is not there anyway. Short of a mute button there is no way he can shut up for longer than 5 seconds.
Yeah, but I want him to get up there and incriminate himself.
No shit. Trump is only loyal to himself and expects the same from others. He and his cult of followers don't give a single shit about the Republican Party.
If anything has become clear over the past years, it's that magats are Republicans and Republicans are magats. I half expected enough "decent" Republicans to be offended by trumps actions and rhetoric to the point of splitting off to a new party. It has happened before. But instead elected Republican representatives and their deplorable voters have grabbed their literal and/or figurative tiki torches to rally around the wannabe dictator.
Honestly I agree with his reasoning. There are people on the GOP ticket I wouldn't support either (all of them). I wonder how Ronna is gonna wriggle out of this.
The concept of a loyalty pledge is fucking insane, never mind that Trump also made people sign their loyalty to him.
I wouldn't sign such a pledge personally eve if I feel the other candidates are fit. It should be my choice. Wes this normal for the RMC ion the past? Do the Democrats have the same policy?
It was never formalized in the past but has always been an unspoken rule: if you're in the party, you support the party's leader. Otherwise, why are you in the party?
In 2016, Trump caused a big stir because he stated he would not support the candidate if it wasn't him. Some people think this was part of the reason he won, that some voters chose to support him because if he lost and ran as a third-party candidate, it would almost guarantee a victory for the Democrats.
