Knowledge leaving my body the moment I start an exam

[–] midori@programming.dev 9 points 1 year ago

The password leaving my brain the moment I need to remember it ^

Oh not just any password, my bitwarden master password... 😥

Protip: create a passphrase instead of a password. Way harder to guess, way easier to remember.

I did use a passphrase. I even created it using a "seed word" such that the passphrase is like an acrostic poem. I know how many words there are and I know every word except one, and I even know the starting letter of the word, I just can't figure out what the word is. I guesed passwords for 2 days straight and didn't get the correct one, now I just lost my motivation to keep guessing.

Depression certainly doesn't help.

Just tell it to me and I will help you if your ever forget it again :)

okay my password for this lemmy account is:

hunter2isabadpasswordthisisamuchbetterpasswordillnevergethackedagain

Please keep this password safe 😉

Yeah depression sucks :(

You could write down the passphrase on a piece of paper and hide it in a book or something. Most hacks happen via malware, database leaks, or social engineering anyway. Just don't lend out the book to anyone accidentally lmao.

No system is perfect, unfortunately.

I hope you have a lovely day :)

I know this is /c/memes, but do you use any memorization techniques? Spaced repetition is a basic but extremely useful one.
Cramming is terrible for learning because you need to repeat things with longer and longer intervals to truly remember it long-term. Thankfully learning with this method can be LESS work even though it's much more effective.

I can really recommend Anki to anyone who wants to try this. Such a good software

[–] zaplachi@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Thanks for the recommendation, that looks pretty sweet and it’s FOSS so I’ll definitely check it out

When the test ends and suddenly you remember the answer to that one question.

Worst feeling I've had in my academic career, bar none.

When I took my final for my last Calc class in college I told my professor beforehand that I had a bucket of math knowledge in my brain and after the exam I was gonna dump it out and fill it with beer. He didn't think it was funny.
