Baby shark do do do , baby shark do do do. Repeated over and over.

Is the insinuation that Wonderful Christmastime is a bad song?

If so, I’m ready to throw hands.

[–] runjun@lemmy.world 30 points 11 months ago

When I worked retail, the loop of simply having made me nearly physically ill.

[–] Gork@lemm.ee 24 points 11 months ago

It is played so much that it is little wonder people have declared War on Christmas.

Holy shit, someone that actually likes that aural abomination?

Are you the reason it won't fucking die?

[–] li10@feddit.uk 6 points 11 months ago

Yes, I will single-handedly keep this song alive.

For real though, I just think it’s a fun song. Maybe I didn’t work retail long enough for it to get to me.

I have yet to hear a version that's good. The original literally gave me a nightmare when I first heard it.

Even youtube is refusing to go along with your lies:

[–] meant2live218@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Thanks! I've never heard this version before, but I find it way more listenable than the original.

Every song is enhanced by the addition of a steel drum solo

[–] harmsy@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

This version sounds kinda goofy.

As a diehard Paul fan I’ll defend Wonderful Christmastime every year. At least it’s not Christmas Time (Is Here Again). Bleh.

There are a lot of bad one off Christmas songs, but Wonderful Christmastime is the worst one that still gets played every year.

And before anyone says it: All I Want for Christmas Is You is the most overplayed, but not the worst. And Christmas Wrapping is the most underrated.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Best is Queen's Thank God It's Christmas. I'm an atheist who considers Christmas way more stress than it's worth, but I love that song!

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 1 points 11 months ago

I would like to counter with I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.

That shit is rage inducing

[–] Spat_U_Later@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

I’m so torn on this comment, because Christmas Wrapping is great, but so is Wonderful Christmastime.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

And Christmas Wrapping is the most underrated.

So underrated that I've barely ever heard it before and had to go look it up to know what you were talking about. (I would've said "literally never heard it before," but the riff in the chorus is ever so slightly familiar.)

There are other renditions of the song that I think are fine, but the original makes me want to burst my eardrums. That synth it's so grating.

[–] GustavoM@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Nah, best we do is to listen to depressing songs and talk about toxicity-related subjects for all day long.

- The average simpleton.

Too much of a good thing.
