/r/notheonio . . . .

sight, that muscle memory is gonna take a while to rewrite.

Has anyone made a nottheonion community on Lemmy yet?

[-] TWeaK@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

I saw one earlier today, I forget which instance. Try a search in All Communities.

There seems to be a few spread out across a handful of instances, but the biggest seems to be !nottheonion@lemmy.ml, followed by !nottheonion@lemmy.world. There might be a bit of a desync going on, though, since the subscriber numbers seem a bit wonky.

/c/nottheonion@lemmy.ml

/c/nottheonion@lemmy.world

Links for the lazy. Although they apparently don't work in Jerboa, instead they crash the app XD

Edit: fixed links

LOL I learned about the links crashing the app the hard way. But I'm currently on a huge instance and all three show up in my search, thanks.

I almost thought this was a joke at first, but it looks like it's legit? Anyhow, the fact that you need a spreadsheet is one of the reasons I never got into EVE. I don't want a game that's a second job. Doesn't help that most of the office jobs I ever had required me to constantly make and use spreadsheets.

[-] RandomStickman@kbin.social 13 points 1 year ago

Tbh unless you're trading or something you don't really need a spreadsheet. There's nothing stopping you from just logging on and explode some spaceships.

Then again it's a subscription based MMO so it's designed to be a time sink/second job but that's not unique to EVE.

I've played a couple of years and I had a good time and never touched a spreadsheet.

I swear this was something they announced as an April Fool's joke like a decade ago, but can't readily find any articles.

[-] fell@ma.fellr.net 11 points 1 year ago

@nanoUFO Wow. They actually became spreadsheet simulator ... for real.

[-] atlasraven31@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

They said the addon will help you EXCEL in EvE.

[-] BeegYoshi@lemm.ee 11 points 1 year ago

i give it 6 months before they make api changes, break the addon, and never fix it

[-] TeaHands@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

Amazed. AMAZED that it's taken this long to get this tie in.

[-] Casmael@geddit.social 4 points 1 year ago

[-] Kichae@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Eve is embracing Spreadsheets Online title

[-] couragethebravedog@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Man I could have used this when I was into Eve echoes. I actually left the game because it felt like a job managing it all. Eve is a lot of fun untill you get big enough to sit at the big tables. Our corp was one of the first and most active, we ended up being mercs for one of the biggest corp in the game at that time. I'd come home from one job and have to start another, but I still miss it sometimes lol

[-] entropicshart@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

After so many years, they really should have some kind of in-game spreadsheet functionality. Esp. with so many html data table/spreadsheet tools out there.

[-] couragethebravedog@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah. I used to have so many tabs open during our big wig meetings.

[-] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

It's just pulling info from the EVE API, and people have made plugins for Google sheets and stuff. 99% of Eve players won't find this useful, but the market animals will go nuts for it.

[-] Notorious@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Honestly it’s not that big of a deal. There have been addons for google sheets for a really long time. I had market sheets that pulled pricing from their API a decade or more ago.

Yeah spreadsheet warrior was like, an entire build. Having easy access to data in excel and an alt in Jita 4-4 was essentially all that was required.

[-] TeaHands@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You just described my whole EVE career.

My first 1B was made with a market alt and 10m from mission running.
