I love the level of decay at each shelf. That middle one seems to be protected but the bottom one is getting exposed to something

Fiberboard on the left, wood on the right.

This is like body horror for librarians.

When a drop of moisture hits the particle board

[–] db2@sopuli.xyz 5 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Those aren't books though.

[–] TheOakTree@beehaw.org 7 points 11 months ago

It's definitely still a bookshelf, though.

Nah, I agree: Those are not books. Those are folders.

[–] Cap@kbin.social 8 points 11 months ago (4 children)

@Norgur But would you agree those are bookshelves the folders are sitting in?

I'd still call them bookshelves, but in this instance I'd also specify "binders on bookshelves".

I'm replying to my own comment because why not. Maybe they should be called foldershelves...

I'm also bumping myself because gosh darn it, I need a little slap in the back even if it's from myself.

We all need a little slap in the back sometimes

[–] Norgur@kbin.social 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

In German, this would not be a bookshelf. It'd be a document shelf or a folder shelf, so I can't say I agree with "bookshelf"... dangit, English! You are one of if not the germanic language with the most words and you are always lacking!

I'm sorry, but wtf are you talking about?

[–] Norgur@kbin.social 1 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Aktenregal, but "Akten" doesn't work as a literal translation, so I paraphrased.

[–] Norgur@kbin.social 1 points 11 months ago

[–] ThirdWorldOrder@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

They’re not even folders, they’re binders

[–] Cap@kbin.social 2 points 11 months ago

@ThirdWorldOrder Yep - good point, they are indeed binders.

@111000 @db2 @chemical_cutthroat @Norgur

[–] schmidtster@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

While they might technically fit the loose definition, these are two ring file folders. They are definitely on a bookshelf though, so don’t why anyone would take offense to that.

This must've been after Atrus burned the books to keep them from Cirrus and Achenar.
