The Holdovers (lemmy.world)

We went to see The Holdovers in a limited screening this weekend and I have to say it was one of the best movies of its kind I have seen in many years. I found myself connecting deeply with he characters and was delighted that the audience was treated with respect throughout. Paul Giamatti's performance was excellent once again, and the film itself was a work of art from the solid humorous moments to the tear jerking bits. This film is well worth watching. I'd love to hear what you guys think.

I haven't had the chance to see this yet but I think it comes out near me this weekend. I love Paul Giamatti but I initially wrote off this movie because it looks like the classic trope of grumpy old guy and misunderstood young guy don't like each other at first but it all works out in the end. But again, I like the directing style so... maybe I'll give it a shot

It IS that but it really takes you through a much more fraught journey than I am used to with this sort of movie. I'd love to hear your opinion after the fact.
