Shin Godzilla is one of my favourite movies of all time. If they can get even close to it I'll be so thrilled.

Agreed! Probably the best social/political commentary since the original film. It was also fairly funny while managing to make Godzilla legitimately scary again for the first time in a VERY long time. I haven't seen Anno's follow up film Shin Ultraman because I'm not familiar with the source material really but I do plan on watching it eventually
