People didn't read articles or comments on Reddit either, all without having this "feature".
What if it was limited to posts that are only images
This was just an artifact from getting swipe gestures to work for both posts and comments! That was a placeholder message, and I myself wasn't sure if it should be allowed.
It seems like the general consensus is to remove it completely, which seems reasonable to me!
Remove the feature completely? I agree that the "reply" shortcut should be disabled on posts (at least by default), but not that the swipe right feature should be disabled on posts: it's the basis of the Thunder language, I think it should just be replaced with another action. What about short swipe right to save the post, long swipe right to go to the community or something along those lines?
Ahh, I meant remove the reply action on posts as you mentioned, not the swipe gestures! My thoughts are to replace the reply swipe gesture with a "mark as read" gesture instead.
So then, it would be like this:
- Short swipe is save post
- Long swipe is mark as read/unread
