I don't support anything uncritically. I think we must always leave room for (productive) criticism.
We live in an imperfect world and always will.

OP is talking about the genuine use of the term 'critical support'. Take hamas: because you're an anti-imperialist, you support national liberation. Because you're a communist or anarchist, you're not aligned with their political ideology — so you support the movement while critical of its politics, same with e.g. anarchists and Vietnam.
Saying "I am critical of the things I support" is an empty platitude.
The term should've been "tactical support", would've prevented this confusion
I would have actually changed the title to say unconditionally support things.
I place no conditions on my support for the liberation of the Palestinian people for instance. All violence against an exterminationist apartheid regime, and those who take part in its project, is justified.
If any Israeli (children for example or anti-Zionists that were born there) is a casualty of this war, the blame lies at the feet of the Zionists not the Palestinians.
I knew it was gonna be MLK
This whole speech is a gold mine for telling liberals how and why they're wrong about everything.
I really, really like the phrase "tactical support".
Tacticool support
It's a literal translation of what critical support is in my native language, I like that term better
I used to think critically support was critical in the same way a critical hit is critical
Like i thought it meant ultra support
What this site needs is more people saying the "of course they aren't perfect either" mantra every paragraph like the libs do to make their view seem balanced, we should be required to mention the Katyn massacre at least once every ten posts
I stopped reading your post because I see you neglected to condemn Hamas
Anytime this debate/conversation comes up it needs to be pre-empted by a debate/conversation about what “support” means. Is rooting for the home team support or just spectating? Does verbal support mean anything in political realms clearly not hooked up to the “democratic” apparatus (foreign policy here specifically)?
Critical support for the Taliban should be the first answer anybody gives. I find them morally abhorrent, but national self determination is essential to the nation ever getting better. As much as I hate the Taliban, I also recognize that Afghanis running their own nation is the first and most critical step in improving the conditions of the nation. Without the Taliban, the West would have just steam rolled the Middle East. Their governing is objectively ass, but it's actually them governing instead of America doing it for them.
Agreeing with President Obama here, the term would be a whole lot clearer if it was tactical support, but also people who unconditionally support things are weird
