More serious question, for those that can, have you contacted your reps regarding however you might like to see them approach this matter?

I feel like the Dems have an opportunity. They already got the demonstration that Republicans are in chaos. Now I think the Dems would be better served to work with moderate Republicans to get a moderate Republican into the speaker role and be able to deliver the message that while the Republicans are in meltdown, Democrats are ready to get the work done.
Republicans caused this mess. Dems should just let them flail longer and make a bigger mess because hey, they're the house majority and it's their fault they can't get their shit together. Probably a good idea not to let the govt shutdown, but maybe (doubtfully) moderate Rs will blink first and vote Jeffries, or at the very least vote present.

Those don't exist though... at least not in terms of the elected ones. The party line these days is to support MAGA extremism; the ones that buck it get tossed out.

Also, the Dems have done the high-road approach for ages - it doesn't work. The people voting for Trump and his ilk don't care about policy or, frankly, logic. They're either voting for their "team" or because they agree with their bullshit.
Any Democrat who is willing to roll over for the GOP and then inevitably get stabbed in the back (and please, don’t insult everyone’s intelligence by pretending they won’t) will get rightfully destroyed in their next primary.
