I have done a lot to this car over the last year, It started with me removing the rear subframe and fuel tank to do some welding. I am now going through every detail so it all works as it should.

I put all new suspension on Tein Flex with adjustable damping and ride height, The paint is Firenza red, As you can see my garage is not big so it's hard to paint cars in there.

There was a post about a lack of posts here so I will post my other two projects as well.

The wings and bonnet are carbon fiber, So I left some exposed.

Looks great! What kind of paint and equipment did you use?

Used ppg single stage black the last time I painted a car (72' Jag XJ6 w/a SBC conversion).

I had a bad experience with basecoat/clearcoat on the 69' mustang I did before that one - folks kept opening their car doors on it in parking lots and the clear chipped white 😐.

I sure do love a freshly self-painted car!

Now you're asking :) I use a Devilbiss Gun with top feed and a 150L compressor with water trap and regulator, As for the paint, All I know is the mixed the colour 50/50 with thinners but the clearcoat was 2K. All that over a high build primer. I leave the details to my local motorfactors who have paint experts, They find out what you are doing and set you up with the right stuff and the technical data. My Vans are both just 2K. Painting cars is really my weak point, Hence my nerves at using a 2 stage on the Skyline.

Awesome, thanks for the deets! That's a great looking color - with that inspiration I may have to take the plunge and do my RDX..!

Bloody hell this looks awesome dude. Always love to see a skyline kept alive.

Thank you, It was my first time using basecoat and clearcoat metallic, I was not confident but it turned out quite well, Needs more polishing to really finish it off. I have owned this car nearly 20 years now.

I am unhappy with a couple of bits like the headlamps and mirrors, They are easy enough to fix later though.

gorgeous. I'm looking to paint my car, around how much did this cost?

Oh man - I don't think I've really ever seen an older Skyline in red before but this looks HOT! Color works really really well with the body lines and the carbon fiber bits are a great accent!

I love your car! :D

Is that overspray on all your boxes and stuff? If so that means you were kicking up dust and this paint job isn’t going to look that good or last that long.
