Lol, the irony.

Tankards punching air.

Edit. Do you have a source though?

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 26 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Source?

Also… this isn’t a question. Why’s is this here?

Not OP but if I had to guess this is the source:

Tankies put in their place by other tankies. Such is the circle of tankie life.

Hexbear? I wasn't expecting that.

Apologies to hexbear users that I may have called Chinese bots. You were just useful idiots after all.

It's hilarious and ironic that hexbear is one of the only two blocked.

Because thin-skinned egomaniacle dictators can't tolerate the free spread of information.

Most of the Western internet is blocked in China. It's almost more surprising it hasn't been so far.

Xi Xinpooh is sensitive to websites which point out the fact that he's an authoritarian dick(tater). There's also, mentioning the Uyghur genocide, and the suppression of human rights and political freedoms in Hong Kong. A few people may also have called the Republic of China (Taiwan) an independent country. Then there's people mentioning that the Nine-Dash line is a ridiculous fantasy. And well, just the fact that lemmy.ml allows people to engage in relatively free speech. Sure, the Tankies abound and there's the obvious Chinese propaganda rolling about; but, posts which point such things out aren't removed. Lastly, Reddit is partly owned by Tencent, gotta protect that investment.

What's cool about the Fediverse, as long as the censors miss one instance that federates with the blocked ones, the content is still accessible. Slightly OT, but some Mastodon instances are blocked as well, e.g. I could not access mastodon.gamedev.place without VPN when I was in China two months ago.
