1. Stay Civil

This is a place for friendly discussion, memes, guides, art, gameplay questions, screenshots and the like. Discrimination and harrassment won't be tolerated.

2. Mark Spoilers

It is okay to post about "related games" (such as Age of Calamity and Breath of the Wild) but please use the spoiler "censor" and do not put spoilers directly into the title, as the censor doesn't work this way. Posts about other Zelda games might be suited better in general Zelda communities, like the ones listed at the bottom of the sidebar.

3. Offtopic Posts

Anything not related to BotW, like politics, religion, non-Zelda games etc. is better suited elsewhere and will be removed. The same goes for NSFW material.

4. No Advertisements

It is okay to post about merchandise, but links to those "design your own merch" sites will be removed, as those are almost always scams featuring stolen art. Affliate links will be removed as well. This isn't Etsy.

5. Provide Sources

If you're going to post art, comics, guides, screenshots etc. that are not your own OC, please mention the name of the original creator and ideally also a link to their portfolio/website. (Pinterest is almost never the original source)

6. Suggestions are Welcome!

Feedback, requests for improvements and constructive criticism are always appreciated ;)

Just for better readibility, as the paths overlap each other:

  • Just the Light Dragon:

  • Just the other three:

(Open the pics in a new tab/window to zoom in)

Flights paths taken from The Zeldamods Interacttive Map and cleaned up a bit, added flight direction and chasms / underground travel.

Would it be possible to encounter light dragon at the same time and place as one of the other three?

No, I’m pretty sure the light dragon flies significantly higher. Low enough to glide to from a launch tower, but some planning is required.

Theoretically yes, but you would have to be lucky enough for the dragons to cross paths at exactly the right time.... and like another commenter already said, the Light Dragon flies significantly higher than the others, so if you plan to hop from one dragon to the other, you'd need to ride the Light Dragon first, not the other way around.

PS: you can park a hoverbike on the Light Dragon's head, which makes the trip from one dragon to the other a lot easier. ~~It doesn't work that well the other way around, as the other 3 are taking a nosedive when going underground - you'd fall off, along with the bike.~~

EDIT: See comment replies ;)

Park it behind their horns (Naydra) or manes. They’ll act like ledges. I do it all the time.

What do you do once they go back to the surface? Does it also work if you park the vehicle in front of their horns, or do you have to stand on their face and use Ultrahand to hover the device?

Yeah, it does. You just have to look for the flattest surface you can and flip your hoverbike upside down because it has the most friction that way. Maybe it’s the handlebars?

Eyebrow ridges are also good.

Maybe I'm missing something here (are dragons a no-build zone?) but my knee-jerk response was to just auto build another bike rather than rig it so it doesn't fall.

Not AFAIK, but I’ve never had to bother and I like not spending resources if I don’t need to. I haven’t broken a weapon in months now.

Me rampaging though the game: Resources are meant to be used!!!!111eleven

Me running out of Zonaite: ...it's possible they had a point 🤔

Nice! I have to try that ^^

I fell off a few times, got flash-frozen by Naydra because I forgot to upgrade the Snowquill Set for immunity, but with a bit of fine tuning, it worked at least once ^^ I'm just a bit too clumsy to relieably pull it off every time, but it defo does work as advertised.

Yes. I once had the Light Dragon almost directly above Naydra. I got all the bits off Light Dragon, then jumped down to Naydra.

They were once close enough for me that I was able to glide from the Light Dragon to Dinraal with just about a single stamina wheel.

[–] Remmock@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

They get fairly close to each other at times. I’ve seen Light get a short glide of Farosh and Naydra before. I don’t really know how lucky I am but I’ve seen it about a dozen times and I don’t even hunt dragons; I just fly up to dragons the moment I happen to see them.

Thanks for the map on where to find a dragon justlookingfordragon

[–] pimento64@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You have Farosh's directions mixed up

For real? Dang ... I'm going to fix it later, thanks for pointing it out ^^

EDIT: fixed.

Neat. Thanks!

This is super useful and perfectly timed for me! Thanks!

Do they just fly continuous paths, independent of day/night? I swear sometimes I’m unable to find them even knowing the paths, so I just end up camping repeatedly in front of a depths opening.

[–] justlookingfordragon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It no longer depends on the in-game time. The dragons won't come faster if you skip days at a campfire, nor do they show up at specific times. It is especially annoying for the Light Dragon as it takes her ages to complete a cycle, and you can only properly track her while you have activated but not yet completed a certain quest.

[–] TheSecurityNinja@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

That’s crazy. Although I do appreciate that I can teleport without them disappearing. Nothing was more frustrating in BOTW than seeing a dragon in the distance and knowing you had no way to catch up to it
