The museum has now said most are Greek and Roman gems and jewellery, and shared pictures of similar items.

Sooooo....

Help, someone stole a tiny fraction of the shit we stole!

What's the statue of limitations before the most recent thieves are the legal owners?

Plot twist: the greeks and italians stole the artifacts back.

There was an episode of Archer about this same thing...

Isn't that just the stuff in the museum?

These failed state countries can't be trusted to look after priceless artifacts. I propose they be moved to responsible countries like Nigeria and Greece for safekeeping.

In my native Latin America we have this saying, "ladrón que roba a ladrón tiene cien años de perdón" ("a thief that steals from a thief has a hundred years of forgiveness") and... yeah guess it may apply here

Ok but they're artifacts from the Greek and Roman empires, which means they might be stolen stolen stolen goods...

Ever heard of "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind?"

Latin America as a whole has absolutely zero advice to offer the rest of the world regarding domestic moral principles, I'm afraid.

So . . . we need to alert the rest of the world how to get their stuff back from the British Museum. Got it.

Have they considered marching an army into weaker countries and just taking new artifacts?

[-] winterayars@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago
