Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

For someone who is not a gamer, he has managed speedrunning becoming the biggest douche in history

As the hyenas pick at the corpse of the once proud United States, they occasionally snap at each other.

[–] Albbi@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 hours ago

I heard David Attenborough reading this comment in my head.

"A hyenas belly is never full"- hyena from LK

At least Patel is an actual thing. Who is this Musk person inside the government? Apparently no one.

[–] MintyFresh@lemmy.world 50 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Well... At least watching the robber barons rip each other apart may be mildly entertaining. It's like the WWF goes to Capitol Hill.

The problem is that one of them will end up on top at the end still.

I hope Musk drops out though. Because with the e-mail he sent to all the FBI employees he is making some serious enemies right now. The moment he loses protection, he will be thoroughly investigated and I can't wait to see the long list of things that will be uncovered.

[–] robbinhood@lemmy.world 22 points 8 hours ago

that's a good point. Musk has pissed everyone in the government off. I imagine that many of those sympathetic to Musk in the regulatory and law enforcement agencies don't appreciate the ways in which he's inserted himself in this conflagration and his immensely heavy handed approaches.

US military contractors get away with genocide. He won’t be Investigated as long as Tesla or SpaceX holds contracts.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 hour ago

Not really comparable since the whole US government is complicit.

Lockheed, Boeing, and NG are way more ingrained than Space X and would love to clear away a competitor. And they have no morals and will happily strike during a moment of weakness. Should at least be entertaining as the country collapses.

lol wow, I can’t believe I’m actually rooting for Boeing to pull this again with Musk. Absolutely wild.

He will just tell his pet trump to tell them to back off

Them fighting each other also give them less time to do horrible things. Yes, they will still do some bad things while they fight, but it takes up some of their time and hurts their sense of unity. It reduces the damage a bit. It also inspires other outside the government to fight back too

Every little bit of delay and harm reduction is something we're going to need

EDIT: also worth mentioning that now other agencies are also pushing against musk now that Patel is. Resistance is often something that spreads once it is normalized

I can't imagine this is a legal way to get rid of federal employees. Hell, I doubt this is a legal way to get rid of ANY employees.

[–] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 22 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Since when do the orange utan and his goons care about legality?

[–] BrundleFly2077@sh.itjust.works 9 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Orange utan is not only a new one(to me), it is the best one.

I prefer the portmanteau, Fantascist, as it mixes the two and also suggests fantasist.

[–] WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I have been calling him The Orange Fart, cause that’s what a trump is in British, but I prefer yours.

[–] BrundleFly2077@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Mango Mussolini is one of the originals I still love

[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 1 points 4 hours ago

This one sounds like it could be another flavour from the Leninade guys

Either that or he's preparing to spring something even worse on them. Such as: "Don't bother explaining what you do and just pack your things."

[–] usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml 21 points 10 hours ago

Multiple agencies are now also doing the same thing. I find it unlikely this was planned by DOGE as it is massively embarrassing to Musk and makes him look weak

[–] Boxscape@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 9 hours ago

Either that or he's preparing to spring something even worse on them.
