Personally I think we should lean into this. First question to that White House Press Secretary should be, "When is the coronation?". Then start referring to Trump as "His Highness" at every instance of speaking to a MAGAt or Republican and "Your Highness" directly to Trump. Force the issue and make them uncomfortable until they stop.

Like using Gen Alpha slang when you're obviously not, just to annoy them. Skibidi toilet forever!

... and doesn't give a shit about that, nothing changes

Backslash as in "taken down for being an enemy of the state and a threat to the constitution"? No? OK, come back when they remember their oath of office.

If that "widespread backlash" isn't a call for his head and subsequent dragging out into the street, I don't think it matters anymore.

America needs to party like its 1789

"Widespread backlash" isn't really something that has any repercussions to him, his entourage or his base.

[–] snekerpimp@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Perhaps if the backlash was backed by mobs exercising their second amendment rights?

[–] Mysteriarch@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Sure, but usually, like here, it's limited to some social media and press moments. Liberal posturing doesn't stop fascists. I hope there's better organizing happening on the ground, but I'm not seeing much from where I am in Europe.

The major media is actively quieting and downplaying any resistance on the ground. It’s actually quite sad to see. But there is movement. I’m just with you, not sure the resistance that being made is the right kind.

Who said anything about "posturing?"

[–] Mysteriarch@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I did - all these types of 'backlash against Trump' that are being reported on are mostly hot air.

Organisation takes time to build momentum. Tese defeatist takes on how it does nothing are a core problem in USA's conditioning against protest, and every time someone says this, another person is discouraged from showing up.

I didn't say anything against organizing? I have something against petty bourgeois libs spouting bullshit in the media and not doing anything useful. I applaud people actually organizing, especially those in labor (unions)!

[–] CowsLookLikeMaps@sh.itjust.works 2 points 21 hours ago

I replied to the wrong comment, my bad.

It's not, but you guys don't learn, you keep getting offended or raging about this dumb shit.

You LAUGH AT HIM. You mock him, you ridicule him, you star making jokes about king being naked, etc etc.

You make a fool out of him!

But no, people keep responding with outrage and moaning, and that's exactly what his fanbase wants. They don't care that they also get fucked, they're too thick to realize it, they're happy as long as the "snowflakes" get it worse.

I want more memes mocking and ridiculing trump, instead my feed is rage, anger and pessimism...

[–] Mysteriarch@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 hour ago

I think both are quite unhelpful. Mocking him doesn't do anything to him or his base. Worse, it often takes the form of ableism and then you're just hurting people around you. Organizing does. It's the only thing the ruling elites fear. Join a protest, a union, a strike, and get more people involved.

I'm with you! I feel like the only time they were honestly upset by what we were saying was when we were all calling them "weird." We should have kept that going.

Is he really seeing backlash? Or just pundits and citizens annoyed with no real repercussions?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 37 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Personally I think we should lean into this.

Absolutely not. Haven't you ever heard of Poe's Law? Or the "Big Lie," for that matter?

Repeating it to mock it would only transform into endorsing it sincerely.

Call him what he is. A fascist dictator. Not the term he wasnts everybody to call him. It's universally a hated term, unlike the weird fetishisation of monarchy in western cinema and culture.

He's mocking us.
