Well, unless you were gay. Or trans. Or didn't perform your gender correctly.

Hell, even in The Matrix they were going to have Switch be an explicitly trans character but got blocked by a producer.

As I look back, if I had to pick a decade to go back to and live in, yeah it would be the 90's.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a meme come from a 5SecondFilm before. I love it.

For the uninitiated, Robodog

Let's start memeing the shit out of them

[–] IzzyScissor@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

This specific enunciation of "shit" is forever burned into my vocabulary. I love it so much.

People forget but in thr 90s the government was so concerned about people giving their children food poisoning that all meat was cooked onto shoe leather

[–] DerArzt@lemmy.world 19 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

The 90's may not have been a culinary golden age, but man I wish that was the biggest problem we were facing today.

There were more problems in the 90s, we just lacked the hyper-awareness that we have today

[–] BastingChemina@slrpnk.net 7 points 14 hours ago

The biggest difference between the 90s and now is that in the 90s we had the feeling that things were being better and that it would continue in this direction.

We might have less problems now but unlike the 90s now it's really hard to look forward and think things will get better.

The 90ies, where germany still taxed hoarded money, great times..

They haven’t since then. How stupid.

Granted, it's not affordable. But the dream remains.

I love how it's the 90s of at least two different centuries 😄

I realise the 90s is park nostalgia for a lot of people... But it was still extremely shit for alot of people, particularly lgbtq. And most non coloured people in the US were still blissfully unaware of just how fucked the police and justice system were to minorities.

[–] synapse1278@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Yeah, me too man, kindergarten was dope.

[–] BakerBagel@midwest.social 5 points 21 hours ago

The 90's were the best football seasons Cleveland ever had

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

Yeah, who knew.
