If there's a way for the rest of Proton to force him out, now would be a good time to save face.

I hope you all see thru Trump's Big Tech bullshit. It's not to reign them in to make America competitive - or whatever other horseshit he spews out of that asshole he calls a mouth. It's to get rid of the others so that he controls and censors the fuck out of the only avenue of social communication like his handlers.

They gave a more nuanced answer afterwards

🤦 Can we get this in actual text or maybe a cool link to the actual content for those of us who need it for accessibility & the rest of us who don't like trying to read pixelated garbage? Screenshots of text are such a scourge. 😭

Also blind people can't read screenshots of text.

Jonah Aragon @jonah@neat.computer Hugely disappointing to see Andy Yen (Proton CEO) tout the Republican Party as the ones standing up for the little guys"

Andy Yen @andyyen Great pick by @realDonald Trump. 10 years ago, Republicans were the party of big business and Dems stood for the little guys, but today the tables have completely turned. People forget that the current antitrust actions against Big Tech were started under the first Trump admin.

Donald J, Trump GrealDonaldTrump I am pleased to nominate Gail Slater as Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division at the Department of Justice. Big Tech has run wild for years, stifling competition in our most innovative sector and, as we all know, using its market power to crack down on the rights of so many Americans, as well as those of Little Tech! I was proud to fight these abuses in my First Term, and our Department of Justice's antitrust team will continue that work under Gail's leadership. Gail previously served at the FTC, in my National Economic Council and, most recently, advising Vice President-Elect JD Vance in his Senate office. Gail has also worked in the private sector, in Media at FOX, and in the Tech sector at Roku, In her new role, Gail will help ensure that our competition laws are enforced, both vigorously and FAIRLY, with clear rules that facilitate, rather than stifle, the ingenuity of our greatest companies. Congratulations Gail - Together, we will Make America Competitive Again!

I use Proton mail, any recommendations for alternatives?

[–] dustyData@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

If encryption is a must, then use Tuta. German company, privacy focused, open source all around, no surveillance, free tier with encryption available, encrypted calendars, accessible paid subscriptions with actually useful services.

I wouldn't say he's being "Maga", but this is some "Libertarian" dumb fuck that has no clue what's happeneing in politics.

If you scroll through his twitter, he did praise some things that Biden did, so it seems like he might just be bootlicking whoever is in power as appeasement

Edit: He also seems to be pro-Ukraine and supports the activists in Hong Kong, so basically a Libertarian that leans to the political right. (And also being a huge dumbass)

PROTIP: Canceling your subscription gives you a place to tell them how you feel (even if you don't end up following through with it).

But damn, where to go from here? Self hosting my own email server and password manager is a little out of my wheel house.

You can generally tell what way someone leans when they say "Dems" but spell out "Republicans".

I'm toughing it out unless someone offers me a good alternative. E2EE and has this whole suite of tools. However, it's unfortunate that I use my protonmail address for my main address and not my custom domain.
