"championed" is slang for "luigi'd"?

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Ah yes .. Those talented landlords...

[–] JokeDeity@lemm.ee 3 points 4 hours ago

Landlord. Talent. LOL!

There's some narrow slice where a "landlord" does something useful for money like maintaining the property. I don't want to deal with the plumbing or repainting.

But almost all of the time it's just taking money for nothing, or charging way more than that's worth. That's not admirable. So fuck them.

You are talking about property management, my friend. A "landlord" gets passive income by doing nothing at all; that's the point of it.

(Of course a landlord could also be a property manager, but almost none are.)

There is really nothing wrong with the idea of shelter as a service (i.e. renting a place to live). The problem is more with buildings as an investment, whether in the form of landlords or home owners living in their investment. NIMBYs are in large part caused by the latter to take just one negative example.

Initially read the name as Callum McFuckery and that fit pretty well.

Being a landlord is a talent now?

[–] Whateley@lemm.ee 30 points 9 hours ago

TIL parasitism is a talent.

I read this and immediately wrote a letter to the faceless corporation that owns and manages the building where I live. I told them how much I appreciate them and how I defend them when people criticize them for frequently out of service elevators, constant false fire alarms, and any other thing that people don’t like. I offered to pay more rent because I feel so bad that they get criticized at all. They said yes, so now I’m paying twice as much because they’re such heroes and I’m just a lowly renter. All hail beautiful landlords.

Wtf

Landlords should be taxed and vilified regardless of whether they reside in Oblivion or plain old Nirn.

I love how they throw out stuff like "Business owners and landlords should be championed" as though everyone already agrees with them.

My dude, you're gonna have to try and justify that claim.

I thought championed someone meant send them into fights in our name...

[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 9 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

I guess the modern version is simping, so this guy is a champion of landlords.

[–] pseudo@jlai.lu 6 points 10 hours ago

I can't learn english if it keeps changing along (^_^')

Can their colosseum fights be the ones against the lions with flimsy shields and shoddy weapons?

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 1 points 9 hours ago

Yes, that's how it works: the ruling class sends the working class into wars to protect their interests.

[–] Gork@lemm.ee 6 points 11 hours ago

Probably think they are entitled to a tip at the end of the year too.
